Have my CBT on the 11th of March, but then don't have my Mod 2 until 2nd of April - possibly later if the DVLA won't let me book a theory.

Just wondering if anyone knows of any places in the North West, preferably Cheshire, that will rent me a 125? Just so I can get a bit of practice on the road. I've had a Google but no luck

Alternatively does anyone fancy lending me a 125 and I'll do your dishes for a week or something? Laughing

What about the Mod 1? What bike are you doing the test on?

Mod 1 is on the 24th of March. Doing the test on the schools bike.

Ive been off the road completley for the past 15 months, so I just want to get a bit of on road experience in and time on a bike that isn't on a farm on the run up to both the Mod 1 and 2. Don't much want to buy a 125 for 3 weeks. Mind you could be longer if I cock up either of the tests

Aye we even get Granada news. Crikey that's a bit steep compared to car rental. Think I'll just have to drive the car around for a few weeks and make motorbike noises...

I'm actually quite tempted but I'm not for buying something that I'd only use for 3 weeks. Plus if I had that then I'd have to put the lovely one piece I've got my eye on off for a month.

Just let me see if I can get insured on it for a month...

It would probably be easier and cheaper to buy a 125cc bike and then sell it when your finished.

Get a cg125 and then flog it on ebay when your finished.

Theres a place near to me (no good for OP) that does offer it without a full license, although it might be very uncommon. https://www.motorcycle-hire.co.uk/yamaha-ybr125/
Quote:
Basic terms and conditions for hiring of 125cc bikes :-
Be aged between 17 and 70
Hold a valid full or provisional car licence plus a CBT pass certificate
Or, hold a valid motorcycle licence class A1
Or, hold a valid motorcycle licence class A2
All hirers aged between 17-22yrs must be free of any convictions or accidents other than proven non-fault accidents. Under certain circumstances minor offences may be acceptable.

Would probably look at buying a 125 though if you want it for a few weeks, you're going to easily spend as much renting in that time as you could buy a bike with, plus you can hopefully sell it back for little if any loss afterwards.

Although it may be a little more of a PIA buying and then selling a 125, it will probably end up as your cheapest option in the long run. A girl I know did this and ended up selling her 125 for £300 more than she paid for it a couple of months later.

When you do this you should also compare it to the price of an annual insurance cover and then canceling it for a refund.

Bearing in mind that it can become a lot more expensive after the statutory 14 day cooling off period.

I hired a CG125 from the people who I did my CBT with (Ace in Bristol). It wasn't cheap and the deposit was £500. But I looked after the bike and got my deposit back.

In short, call the school doing your CBT and ask them, if no joy, then call other local schools.
