Sticky throttle

Hi,

My throttle will stick if i open it up all the way, It will unstick after a second. Its not the grip of the throttle itself.
Cable? I dont know help me.

Hi

One of the cables being trapped somewhere is probably the most likely cause. Disconnect the return cable (of fitted) and see if it still sticks. Also check the visable bits of the cable at each end for any signs of fraying.

I guess you have checked inside the throttle box thingy.

Try spraying in some WD-40 down the cable and see if you can unstick some corrosion somewhere.

Also look at the divider box (if you have one on zxr's?).

I will have a look sometime tonight, at first I thought it was the grip because it only did it at full throttle but when I took it apart I saw it wasn't.

Have you tried oiling the cable??

That helped on my cables!!

Make a funnel and pour oil down through the funnel and leave over night...

What kind of oil?

I also get this exact same thing. It only sticks when its completely open, and after 4-5 seconds usually unsticks by itself.

Engine oil. You don't need a lot, and you will know when the cable is fully oiled because oil will be coming out of the other end.

Hang them up vertically, and let gravity help you.

Hi

Problem of using oil is that some cables have a nylon liner and this will expand when exposed to the oil. This will make the cable stiffer and more prone to sticking.

What about wd40, will that have the same effect on the nylon liner?

I have seen the cable pressure packs for sale here, you just screw one end of the cable on to the nozzle of the spray and give it a squirt for a couple of seconds and your done! nice quick clean and easy I think it is a silicone based spray
