What the hell does that even mean? Laughing

Could have been worse.

https://www.gifbin.com/bin/022011/1298914487_car-plows-through-cyclists.gif

In the bicyclists defence, that riding pattern would equate to a footprint not dissimilar to the size and speed of a tractor and trailer, but much easier to see beyond and would have been incredibly easy to overtake safely.

Driver did not see a threat to himself or his sprog since he thought any collision with the cyclists, no matter how catastrophic, could probably be fixed with trip through a car wash and a bit of T-cut. 5 Star NCAP innit.

Hmm I spose if it said 'motorbiking news and Issues'
there'd be no forgiveness
( not that you'd get any in this place)
But having watched the vid and having sympathy for cyclists
WHEN THEY'RE NOT ON THE FUCKIN PAVEMENT !!
that was pointless stupid and downright dangerous behaviour by the driver

I can only give it 3/10 as it makes no mention of braided hoses
lovely braided hoses...............

Nope, little on the close side but perfectly acceptable. Cycles should not have been two abreast either. Its dangerous (consider the large speed differential on a blind bend) and inconsiderate.
I have filtered and overtaken cars equally close, especially on bicycle. Ive overtaken a car while its overtaking a cyclist, to make a point that there really is plenty of space Laughing

Its a joke how most cars overtake. They hesitate, tailgate for an hour, pull out just as an oncoming motorbike/car approaches almost forcing it off the road because of the massive gap to cyclist.

The profile of a car overtake typically pulls out very close to the arse of a cyclist, way overshoots into the oncoming lane a car length after passing the cycle and then moving back a year later. Cars awareness of space is shit.

So its nice to see a driver that can do it properly Thumbs Up

Are you off your tits? It's not even remotely acceptable overtaking that closely. I'm glad you'd be ok with a car passing you like that, I would be livid.

Far too close; nothing like perfectly acceptable.

Cyclists are encouraged to ride 2 abreast because it's safer, not dangerous. It's easier to overtake a line of 12 bikes travelling 6x2 than it is to overtake them travelling 12x1. That means less time / distance in the opposite lane. It has the added benefit for the cyclists of not allowing the car to overtake in the same lane as the cyclist - ie exactly what the car shouldn't do, where there's space to do otherwise.

Surely you're joking, there is no reason for him to be that close at all, the road is clear and he has plenty of space to overtake.
He obviously feels angered that the cyclists have impeded his progress by being there (don't pay road tax ect raaarrrr) and has lashed out by driving really close to them.

In the screen grab it looks like he's less then 2ft from the cyclist wheel so when you add on the wing mirror of the car and the handbars of the bicycle there is probably inches to spare.

Ahh, one of the many reasons I hate riding in larger groups.

And perhaps you don't ride a pushbike on these kind of roads? But being passed like that makes me practically shit myself every time. Out of order and in that example, utterly unnecessary.

Sadly it's pretty much par for the course these days, everyone's in a super hurry to get where they need to go yesterday that anything that might slow them down by even seconds = riot. It doesn't matter if I'm breaking the speed limit on my pushbike, people will still risk life and limb in crazy lunges to get past me.

On the bright side, at least I can get some satisfaction if I can overtake them straight back Wink

Laughing If you're gonna slipstream something you can't see around, it's probably best to do it on a bike with brakes! Laughing
