The first one has an overlapping breast which will help keep the wind off. It's a good, cleasic bike jacket design.
I paid a similar amount for a similar style jacket about 10 years ago from a bike rally stall. Lining is starting to come apart now but otherwise it's been bang-on.
It's a copy of one of the old Bellstaff designs.
More recently I got a proper Bellstaff one for less than that second hand on ebay which appears to have never been worn.
If you're on a budget, this is a good option, there is loads of bike gear out there which has never been worn. Often top of the range kit bought by midlife crisis businessmen. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

I've bought a few leather jackets including one thats made to measure, I've spent a fortune on them. The one I wear the most cost me £35 on ebay. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
Skudd:- Perhaps she just thinks you are a window licker and is being nice just in case she becomes another Jill Dando.

My leather cost me £35 from a car boot sale, my textile jacket was £15 from another. Both were pretty much unworn, so can't see me buying new for a while yet. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Won't buy anything new and cheap anymore. Have some fairly serious cartilige damage in my knees after some JF Pelle leathers blew apart at the seams. It's gonna hurt when I get old apparently.
Much rather buy a used premium branded jacket...picked up a Berik 2pc for £50 last time I dropped a load of weight |

Go second hand for sure.
My alpinestars black 2 piece was £100 delivered from ebay. |

I'll second "Dave70's" comments in regards to the quality of "Frank Thomas" sold by J&S.
I did exactly the same thing, walked into J&S for my first set of gear prior to CBT and had no idea about anything, a kid in a candy store with a fair bit of money.. purchased a full set of frank thomas textiles, boots, gloves and helmet.
Jacket / Boots / Trousers (all £79 each, aprox).
Gloves (£20 aprox).
Helmet (£40 aprox).
Here's why they're poor.
- The zip on the trousers broke after three months, leaving the trouser no longer waterproof because it would leak through the now open hole (as well as people telling me i'm flying low).
- Armour in the jacket often comes out of places and is only held in a compartment by velcro (feels like I'd hold the jacket together in a crash rather than the other way around).
- Gloves are very thin and in the worst of winter often ended up shaking at red lights wondering how I was still managing to control the bike.
- Bolts on the boots go rusty quickly, generally starting to fall apart after about four months.
However .. all of the frank thomas gear I purchased did keep my dry in the worst of weathers (apart form broken zip).. I still use the jacket and boots four months latter only because I'm awaiting the funds to get some higher end gear, I'd say out of what I purchased the boots and jacket where the only ones worth there money.. if the jacket had more armour in then I'd say it ad be a steal.. however is made on a budget sadly.
I've changed my trousers and gloves to the "RST Blade" range, no regrets.. well worth spending the extra money, comes with a inner thermal thick layer as well, plenty of warmth and very dry.
All in all.. I'd recommended RST, if it's good enough for people to use on track-days it all more than suit my needs on my little 125 in the city.

Am I the only person that removes all the armour? I have trouble getting a rucksack past the elbow pads for a start Armour's probably a good idea for the first couple of years riding, but once you get the crashing over with, take it out
As above, the best way to avoid injuries is to try and stay on the bike ____________________ Space Is Deep |
