Hello BCF
I'm after a DAB radio for my bedroom, not after music festival sound quality but nor do I want a Pringle can.
Can anyone recommend a decent DAB Radio or even ones to avoid?
I'm suprised how expensive DAB radios still are
Ideally after a DAB clock radio ... Bluetooth would be nice.

We've a Pure Evoke 2S. Lovely sound, but a bit overkill seeing as I only really listen to Radio 2 and Absolute 80s. Would be better to just have a decent speaker dock for the phone and stream it from there. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. DAB....good when it gets a signal, but when it doesn't fcukin annoying
you can't fine tune it like the old analogue radios
no twiddle / turn radio until sound improves....
oh no....move radio aerial and sound just stops.....so you leave it until it then starts to retune, THEN it plays sounds again (maybe) so you move radio / aerial to improve sound once more......aagghhh !! ____________________ Previous bikes: Suzuki GT250A / Yamaha DT125 / NTV Honda 650 // currently Suzuki RF900 |

An internet radio is better if you have a decent wi fi signal.
I got one at xmas for my mrs and it's brilliant.
I was listening to the Detroit Police despatcher a few nights ago on
one of the 100+ scanner frequencies.
Was listening to a Bahamas Radio station on Christmas day when we fired it up.
It also has DAB as well as DAB+ and I've hardly used those functions. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

I got given one of these recently, sounds pretty good, reception could be better on the move thoug as its all or nothing like digital tv, it only really has a few dedicated stations that are not on fm (fm seems to have more small/ regional stations)
You can record to sd from the fm and the dab and get about 7hour battery life at full volume, too easy to turn on/off in your pocket so you end up accidentally turning it back on and draining the battery.
I run it through my pc's mic/ line in out to the 5.1 surround (actually fills all channels) or via the aux in on stereo at home and can take it out on the bike or plug it into a car head unit if i need too.
A lot of the big stations have live internet streams and you can get kodi/xbmc to stream most everything else, i sometimes use the older version of amp3 to listen to internet streams, the channel list isn't updated anymore aparently but you can add new ones manually. it does have the beneft of upmixing for my surround speakers though.

My granddad has one of these he reckons you get a bit of a treble hiss on recording from it but overall he likes it.
you can fing cheaper ones but not many allow for recording and if you already have a decent audio set up all you really want is a dab reciever. ____________________ hellkat wrote:
