Tips on technique please people.

I dont want to end up breaking my foot or anything to incorrect application of bootage causing a misalignment at the boot/mirror interface leading to fracture.

In other words, how do you boot it just right to fuck it and not hurt your tootsies !!!!

Erm...... a friend told me...... Laughing

.... that it's better to do it by hand, with the underside of your fist (well padded and resistant to bruising), a sharp downwards blow (cos that's the one direction they aren't built to flex in) usually does the trick.

Personally I'd punch, knuckles onto the actual mirrored part. They shouldn't flex that way either Twisted Evil

My gloves have armoured knuckles, which I suspect is the sole purpose of them.

Karate *sp* style with the bottom of your foot, from behind. The best method is to punch it though, doesnt matter which was as long as you do it hard and quickly.

Silly thread though!

If it was Karate style, it would be with your toes flexed back with the solid bit where the ball of your foot is. Obviously boots don't allow that.

I'd expect there to be plenty of padding however you attack the mirror though for it not to hurt. Unless you're wearing trainers.

I'd advise against a straight punch. The car is most likely to be on your left, which means for most people you will be using your jabbing hand, and the wrist muscles are usually weaker. If you can't get a straight shot, the potential for injury to the carpals/ metacarpals is high.

dont try it on a high end bmw or merc as you will break your hand/foot and look stupid

why not just kick the side of the car or if you have been offended that badly follow them home

i'd just give them the wanker sign and carry on to be honest

but im getting old and dont have as much testosterone as you young lads

Eye, I'll tell you an effective method. Park it outside me house for a week. Wait for some twat (and there's plenty of them drive along my road Rolling Eyes ) to tear arse along, come to close to the car and rip the f*cker clean off. Had it happen about three times now by tossers on their 'school run' Evil or Very Mad

I imagine that hitting it from above in the same manner you would bang your fist onto a table is the best way.

I presume you do it as you're riding past? In that case a punch into the mirror would surely throw you off balance.

I once was cycling to school, and saw the class geek up ahead, thought I would look cool if I kicked his arse as I rode by. Tried it then completely lost my balance and fell off in front of everyone. Guess who looked the fool then? Laughing

Anyway I would guess a "banging the fist on the kitchen table" style would be best, so as not lose balance. I'm too scared to ever try in case the above repeats itself!

Although ive only been out on the CB125 a few times since christmas I do have an extremely short fuse when it comes to arseholes.

One way that works that wont injured you is while stopped next to said car/van, simply push the mirror off away from the car, the same way you would punch it. You should find that it breaks off fairly easily under weight.

Couple of things to watch out for, heated mirrors have really thick tethers going to themwhich means that chances are you arent going to be able to break them completely off!

Top tip for the day.

but surely by kicking the wing mirror off a car then you are going to put the life of the next biker to go past it in danger

Thumbs Down

The heated ones are much more expensive to replace though Twisted Evil
Seriously, what's the point? That car owner might be the first to arrive on the scene a couple of miles down the road when some other bugger's done a hit and run and knocked you into the nearest tree. Or maybe he'll be the one doing the hit and run because he had the red mist after someone deliberately knocked his wing mirror off.

On a stationary one I find a set of golf clubs does the trick. If your thinking about doing that whilst moving though I'd suggest watching the video, I think its in the 'funny' section of the guy leaning out of the car window and whacking a kid off his bike! Think its called 'bike bully gets owned!'

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the consequences of such as actions as purposely kicking someones mirror off their car. I am a biker (obviously) and know how annoying and dangerous it is when someone pulls out on you/doesn't see you etc, but kicking the mirror off isn't really the solution. I also speak as a car driver and truck driver and if some biker delibrately came and kicked my mirror off, no matter what I had supposedly 'done' to them, then the first thing I would do is chase them up the road and seek a very similar revenge on them, probably replicating the kicking action about their person. If I am unable to catch them, then I would report it as criminal damage against their reg number. And I would be holding all the cards, cos after all I've got a broken mirror and all they've got is a story about what supposedly happened. So I don't advocate this kicking mirrors and doors business, just give them a mouthful instead, flip the bird, whatever. Get over it and move on.

If I'm driven to the point of damaging someones vehicle (very rarely it has to be said), they are getting off VERY lightly, and I've never yet done it without pulling over and giving them chance to remonstrate. If I wasn't prepared for the potential consequences, I wouldn't do it.

There’s the option of kicking out the tail light or putting a dent in the door with your boot, much more difficult than taking out a mirror on a moving car

Underside of your fist to the mirror side.
Make sure to swing though and don't use the momentum of the bike.

Don't do it too often though.

Have fun. Twisted Evil
