I remember reading a theory someone posted on here ages and ages ago.
I can't remember the details but it was something like if you follow the manufacturers guidelines you won't have as much power output once it's worn in.
If you give it a bit of a reasonable thrashing and still vary the revs and all that then it'll boost the power output as the piston rings will be morn worn with the barrel.
Anyone got a link to this original article or experience with this? ____________________ Shaft drives rule. |

I think the basic thing was to just make sure that it's warmed up properly before you do anything. Then do anything, just not too much of the same thing for too long. (A proper warm up and then variation in engine rpm and load are the main things I think.)
An accelerated slow and steady approach worked fine for me. I just got the rpm higher and higher over the miles, working into higher and higher gears over time. I was sometimes redlining fifth by 500 klicks and the engine's running sweet as a nut (with much thrashing) 2000 later. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Taking it easy it is.
I'm staying slower than 50 and not letting it rev over 5k ish at the mo.
Every 50 miles shall I add 1k onto the revs? ____________________ Shaft drives rule. |
