Posted: 21:13 - 01 Apr 2015 Post subject: Penalty for race exhausts??? |
 |
|
Hi, I am going to buy an exhaust tomorrow for my CBR, I have been looking at a few and I am just wondering if anyone knows,
What is he penalty for having either a race pipe or an exhaust with no baffle in?
Is it points or just simply a fine?
I was looking at one by a company called SP engineering which looked real nice and well priced too, but don't believe it's road legal
Thanks |

Looks like it is just points and a producer then, I always thought they could take you down the not fit for road route and give you 3 points! |
its not a driving offence so is unlikely to give you points, just a fine. unless the copper that pulls you is a bigger prick than most of them
however, depending on where you are, how much of a hooligan you are, and how loud the results is, most copper will just ignore it as it could be classed as "a safety device" so that the cager will look for what is making the noise. ____________________ Current rides - 2016 Triumph Street Triple Rx, 1994 Suzuki Bandit 400 VM, TGB 204 Classic 125cc

Off on a quick tangent, does anyone know the penalty for a smaller number plate now?
From what I gather 9" by 7" is the standard size (based on letter sizing - no proper size limit)
I'm not looking to push the limits, I probably want a 8" by 6"..
Just don't want to stand out for a policeman with a chip on shoulder.

I got stopped for speeding on my CBR with a small plate (8x6) an SP engineering can with no baffle in.
Let off with a 'take it easy' warning. ____________________ Yamaha RXS 100 > Honda CD 250 > Honda Hornet 600 > Honda CBR 600RR > Yamaha RXS 100 > Kawasaki ZX6R J2 > Yamaha FZ1 |

Friend of mine in Edinburgh was given an ASBO for a noisy motorcycle exhaust. Not rediculously noisy, a ZX6R with an old swona system on it.
An ASBO shows up on enhanced disclosure.
Just to show the more potentially serious consequences. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Don't sweat it, I have a slightly smaller plate on my xr and it has never caused an issue at all. ____________________ Theory test - 19/8/09, CBT - 11/10/09, MOD 1 - 16/8/10, MOD 2 - 27/10/10

Some people on BCF may have exceeded an indicated 150mph on occasions and not been stopped - doesn't mean to say that everyone will get away with it though. ____________________ Make mine a Corona. |
