I can't offer any advice as I've got my DAS next month. I'm interested in how you enjoyed the NC750S? Reviews make me think this might be a good first bike. But then some also say the engine is a bit dull. Guessing it is pretty exciting in comparison to a 125?!

Any chance you can repost the first sentence (or two , as the case may be) but using correct grammatical structure and syntax so that we can understand what the fuck you are on about?

For what purpose? A reliable commuter, probably, but it's not going to set your pulse racing.

Alan's Snackbar on here can give you the skinny.

Without stating the obvious, if you passed your test on it surely that must be a pretty good sign that it is a "newbie" friendly bike?!

As Rogerborg says, it depends on what you are using it for. I've had my NC700 (the previous model, mostly the same) for about two and a half years and 32,000 miles. It is a very reliable, economical, and practical commuter, and I've even done thousands of miles of two-up touring on it. It'll feel like a rocket next to a 125.

But it's not something you'd bother bringing to the track. The NC's engine is car-like and low-revving, which is one of the reasons it's easy to ride. It's virtually impossible to stall. You could start from fourth gear, probably.

Honda's CB500 range have more traditional, free-revving motorcycle engines and are just as economical, although they don't have as much grunt/torque and feel a bit flimsier to me, but that's just a feeling from a couple of times I've been on them as loaners when the NC was being serviced. I don't have any experience with them long-term, or know anyone who has.

I had an ER-6n for three weeks last summer and really enjoyed it. That's also a good first bike -- fast(ish), revvy engine. Not as economical and (IIRC) a smaller tank and range.

These days it is more get the bike you like and learn to live with it. The bike you learnt on is a fine bike. Not everyone's cup of tea, but your skills will not over reach the bikes capability.

There are few people who can get the most out of the bike that they ride. Even the riding gods on here don't really reach the bikes limits, only their own skills in using the limits.

Test rode one in early Feb from Honda Dealer and they claimed it was the best commuter in the market. They also implied it would wake you up with a blowjob and do your laundry. Some of these statements may not be true though.

You already know how it handles, go try another dozen before deciding.
I found it OK but not something that anyone would aspire to own, but more to 'have' because it does the job.

Some people actually want 600cc race rep bikes, why I don't know. I like the Adventure style bikes as they are the best and any fool should know that.

taste and use is VERY subjective. Get what you think makes you look good in the shop window as you ride past.

No, unless you are 90 or a commuter who wants a dummy tank and good fuel consumption at the expense of enjoyment.

57hp from a 219kg 750 is not going to set your pants on fire. Compare it with a street triple with 107hp and 189kg and even an SV650 with 72hp and 196kg shows how bland it is going to be.

Not that I'm disagreeing with your assessment, but I generally enjoy riding my ~20hp Enfield more than my ~70hp Beemer. Horsepowers for courses.

Not everyone wants power.

I can't add much really. You need to find a bike/bikes that you like the looks of. Test ride some and get more of an idea. There's so many different ones out there.

I enjoy driving my 35hp 15 ton narrowboat at 4 mph but i'm never going to wet my knickers doing it.

My point is other than commuting, 90% of people ride bikes for the thrill and that is rapidly not going to happen on an NC750 as you get more experienced.

Best selling 126cc+ bike in the UK is the BMW GS, not the Thrashfucka ZRXRRZXR. I'd question the figure, and also what constitutes thrills.

Are Harleys thrilling? Probably not to you. Their riders might disagree though.

Subjectivity is the nub of my gist, rather than Top Trumps numbers. OP needs to ride bikes on the road, rather than on the spreadsheet.

Point taken, but I bet the GS buyers are people who have grown out of the Thrashafucka brand Laughing Harley ridesr probably less so, they were deficient at an earlier age.

I went through my thrill phase and still do enjoy the odd high speed blast, though on a 300kg beast like mine can induce some other feelings as well Pale
