 |
|
Just been adjusting the chain tension on the ZZR 600E
I noticed a few weeks ago that the front of the wheel sits closer to the left hand centre stand leg than it does the right hand leg, however the notches on the adjustment show the axle being slightly further back on the right than it does the left (chain side)
Still following?
I do recall adding an extra quarter or half turn to one side and believed this to be the chain side.
How can I check if my wheel is in straight? ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

You need to get your centre stand aligned
Vernier calipers will do the job (on the wheel) ____________________ Yamaha FZ6 S2 |

With the ZZR6E, there's a LOT of stuff in the way of the centre stand bolt and the rear axle so you can't get a reliable measure that way, that's what I've found.
I can be quite crap at this, so when my tyre got changed I trusted them to put it on straight, it got MOTd and they use a looong piece of straight metal and they said it was straight.
Now, when I tighten my chain, I just tighten it a quarter turn on each and don't bother looking at the marks. I have looked at the markers since doing my quarter turn and they are even, so perhaps you can slacken the wheel off until the marker is centred on a line on the SA then count the turns on the adjusters to keep it straight.... providing your SA isn't bent, which it shouldn't be. ____________________ I'm Sam; Northern, Ginger, Lover

It's the feet of the centre stand I was going off the wheel being close to, however I get the feeling the chain side might be straighter and closer to the bike anyway.
My bike did get shunted from behind just under a year ago but it's thought mainly the exhaust took the brunt of the impact.
On the markers I'm half a mark out
Bike feels fine but I think the tyre is rubbing, not sure if on swing arm or on hugger.
The teeth were to one side in the chain on the rear sprocket (towards the bike) and are now about centre in the chain ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.
