https://www.avonmoto.com/project
A friend of mine in the US (atlanta Georgia) currently owns this bike, yes the actual bike, and is considering selling it if he gets the right offer, the build itself cost £30,000 in 2011 and since then it's done a mere 2k miles which were mostly done on a track for shows etc, not racing, and the bike still has everything that came on it and even the original screen and paddock stands!,
He's obviously not looking for 30k sorts of money for it but not stock money either, I think he would let it go for around £15k possibly a bit less!
What do you guys think?
If you don't like it or whatever then don't bother commenting lol.
What would you say is a good value for it?
100% genuine btw, no bullshit. |

Why should a fancy paint job double the value? |
Look again, the paint job is a side piece (done by a famous US painter) , the build cost doesn't include the bike itself, just the parts. all the top brands have contributed to it, organisation etc, it has every part you would ever want.
It's not just a custom bike, it's built by a massive company with help from all the big bike brands, the carbon wheels alone were 3 grand and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Labour etc and organising something like this, especially in the UK, would be near on impossible unless you have some serious money, it's a one of a kind bike, a true one off. |

paint job is not to my taste.
but its got to be worth the same money as a brand new(un spoiled)2015 r1
not |
It came how it is, was bought from yamaha for silly money, tbh it's not something that just anyone would buy, you would have to really appreciate what's gone into it and what it means, it's not to everyone's taste obviously, it's one of those things that you need the right buyer for, some people will say it's not worth anything yet others will say it's worth loads, just like selling a door for 12 grand because Banksy scribbled on it, it's just what someone is willing to pay to own something special I guess, nobody can put a factual value on it, it's opinion.
As I said it's open to buy for the right offer and I have his permission to sell it for him and submit any offers to him, I know the guy really well. |

isnt the phrase "the right buyer" a euphemism for "fool and his money"? |

This is what I don't understand about half my interests:
Model railways, people try and sell layouts for more than the cost of parts (by about double) claiming labour having gone into it
Fair enough, you've put time and effort in, but you also got enjoyment out of it and have admitted to getting bored and wanting a new project and a wad of cash to get yourself going.
I've got two choices, buy your layout, or buy the parts and build myself
same with this bike, I'm looking for a bike, not to pay for someone to take time out of their life to build it for me, yeh, it's a bit special and if to my tastes worth a bit more than a standard one, but not by much.
Think I'm only commenting because I'm drunk ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

That 14B R1
BST wheels, YES
Gilles Kit, YES
Bazzaz, YES
Akrapovic, YES
But you can still find cross-plane R1's with all of the above and sorted suspension for cheaper. What I like about the R1's are how understated and mature the colours are.
8K for the bike. 10k max. Considering that new R1s are £15k, there is no hope in hell anybody will buy the previous version, in a non-standard state, for that price.
Over on the R1 forums I'm, people typically flog off their parts and de-mod their bikes to retain the value and gain as much money as possible from the trick bits! They only generally add 10-15%. The upshot is that guys like me can buy Akras, Gilles & Yoshimura bits for about 50% RRP.
De-mod and sell. He'd probably get a grand for those BSTs, and about 50-75% of retail on the other parts. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

I think it's awesome that you found this bike so worthy of generally chatting about it that you chose it as the topic of your annual thread.
It's not at all a cynical way of pimping your chum's for-sale Frankenbike.

I like it very much, especially the fart channel in the seat
I still don't see you getting stupid money for it though.
Think on this, if your mate had bought 2 R1's at the same time, did this to one and then put it in a case. Put the standard bike in a case and stored them.
In 50 years time, which one would the collectors be falling over each other to buy. ____________________ Victory Cross Country American tractor. |

Bike needs a decent story to sell. What's the point of all the trick performance farkles if it never got ridden in anger? Looks like a big monument to unspent potential in its current state. ____________________ Motorsapien Art |
