Avon 100th Anniversary R1 on the market!

A friend of mine in the US (atlanta Georgia) currently owns this bike, yes the actual bike, and is considering selling it if he gets the right offer, the build itself cost £30,000 in 2011 and since then it's done a mere 2k miles which were mostly done on a track for shows etc, not racing, and the bike still has everything that came on it and even the original screen and paddock stands!,
He's obviously not looking for 30k sorts of money for it but not stock money either, I think he would let it go for around £15k possibly a bit less!
What do you guys think?

What would you say is a good value for it?

This is what I don't understand about half my interests:

Model railways, people try and sell layouts for more than the cost of parts (by about double) claiming labour having gone into it

Fair enough, you've put time and effort in, but you also got enjoyment out of it and have admitted to getting bored and wanting a new project and a wad of cash to get yourself going.

I've got two choices, buy your layout, or buy the parts and build myself


same with this bike, I'm looking for a bike, not to pay for someone to take time out of their life to build it for me, yeh, it's a bit special and if to my tastes worth a bit more than a standard one, but not by much.

also on a note of just because its a one off dosnt make it desirable or valuable.The tron bike is still for sale,

But you can still find cross-plane R1's with all of the above and sorted suspension for cheaper. What I like about the R1's are how understated and mature the colours are.

8K for the bike. 10k max. Considering that new R1s are £15k, there is no hope in hell anybody will buy the previous version, in a non-standard state, for that price.

Over on the R1 forums I'm, people typically flog off their parts and de-mod their bikes to retain the value and gain as much money as possible from the trick bits! They only generally add 10-15%. The upshot is that guys like me can buy Akras, Gilles & Yoshimura bits for about 50% RRP.

De-mod and sell. He'd probably get a grand for those BSTs, and about 50-75% of retail on the other parts.

As above, it really needs the "right" buyer. If someone wants it to display (maybe a bike collection, or big tyre shop?) it'll be worth more than to someone who wants it to hoon around on.

Think on this, if your mate had bought 2 R1's at the same time, did this to one and then put it in a case. Put the standard bike in a case and stored them.

In 50 years time, which one would the collectors be falling over each other to buy.

nobody is going to buy a 4 year old for more than they can buy a new one, especially as the 2015 model is new, the only thing that may of made it worth more is if it was an unused bsb spec bike built by one of the top teams
