Just wondering what people have to say about the 2003-4 versions of this bike. Reliability, running costs etc.
I'm only 21 and haven't ridden for over a year but I'm confident I would respect this bike enough to own it.
I will at some points be strapping a bit of luggage to it. Just for weekend trips, nothing major.
Just wondering if out of all the common 600 super sports is this one of the better all rounders? As in not so track orientated? If not which one is?
Yes I know people will recommend 600f's and vfr800's and other much more sensible bikes, but fuck it, I'm young and want a supersport ____________________ Honda CBR600f sport

2003-2004 600RR is very track focussed. Very revvy motor. Underseat exhaust can make bungeeing stuff a pain.
CBR600F is a far better luggage taking machine.
ZX636R, 2002 model is less focussed than the 600RR. Possibly GSXR600 K4/K5 as well. 2003/2004 R6 is also a very revvy blighter, but no underseat exhaust meaning any luggage will fit with ease.
You could always just throw your stuff in a rucksack for your trip away? ____________________ My Flickr |

Got to admit when doovy flew past me on the redline last year on his RR the sound did give me a raging hard on. Sounded a little like a cross between an F1 car and a Eurofighter ____________________ I am a bellend, I am a man of constant sorrow, I am a gummy bear, I am a rock. |

If you still find just the acceleration of bikes fun - all the better for you . It pretty quickly grew mundane for me unfortunately.
I like track riding/racing, but prefer to avoid superbikes because they're less involving for that - supersports more fun for fast riding, but superbikes I find make good commuters due to said boredom.
Of course you can 'make your own fun' on any bike, but I find some bikes really encourage you to have more fun, while others you're forced to make your own. |

I guess some bikes may be a tad boring but my speed four for instance, it sounds good handles well and I like the power delivery.
But some people will find them tame.
A new rider though I think would enjoy the bike and find it far from tame.
Sometimes track riders seem to put people off perfectly good bikes cos they are so used to riding missiles
Yeah its not all about speed, although I've yet to ride a 600+ I'd class as slow.
I like bikes to have character.I think my triumph has and bandits to me look like real bikes and have a certain character and imo fast enough for a new rider.
I think old zx6rs have too.
I do like to feel I'm riding a proper bike and I suppose that does steer me away from the newer plastic futuristic looking bikes.
But I'm sure if I had one I'd get along fine with it.

Problem with the new RR (I don't know about previous years) is that it has to be constantly in the top end to go anywhere and you have to lick the tank as well.
In order to see the speed dials you have to really tuck in if you're over 6 foot (I wonder if that'd work if stopped by the police ), and it doesn't have much low-down torque.
Tbh, I almost wish I'd gotten another 600F, cracking bikes and much more comfy. ____________________ Left the forum. |

I've been riding nearly 9 years now and still not owned a bike that puts out more than 100bhp I sort of have a hankering for something ridiculous (K1200r keeps coming to mind) but in all honesty the times I wish for more power are limited and having ridden a few more powerful bikes I can't say that power has necessarily equated to fun.
I'm a pretty firm believer that you won't be truely happy if you don't go for what you really want though, hence not having tried to convince the OP to go for anything slower than the RR, might as well go for whatever you're hankering after.
I reckon as an all around bike that was immensely fun on the road my steelie cbr600f would take some beating. Fast enough to be fun, slow enough that you could rag it (top of third gear was still under 100mph iirc, good enough handling to have fun without being so good that it became boring.
Also comfortable, reasonably economical, good on tyres, good enough looking in my eyes.
Getting a bit long in the tooth now though I suppose! ____________________ I am a bellend, I am a man of constant sorrow, I am a gummy bear, I am a rock. |

I came to the conclusion that comfort was important to me.
Sports bikes just put too much strain on my ageing unfit body and although they are fun for 15 mile runs to Matlock I personally wouldn't want to use one for work or the coast.
I didn't want a toy I wanted a bike I would ride 5 or 6 days a week.
But young and full of it I would have wanted an R1 |

You could also look into the big leauge. ZZR1100-1400, GSXR 1300, ZX12R, CBR1100XX and other big bikes. These Hypertourers are 185mph couches.
EDIT: Also, and I can't just overlook this, if you feel pain in your wrists, then you just do not know how to sit on a motorcycle. Always clutch the tank with your knees and never push the bars with your hands. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Get an F-sport. Absolutely brilliant bit of kit and mega fun, despite what people say about Honda's.
I can confirm that it can keep up with Doovy's RR in a straight line without issue. Been tested many times.

I do like the F sport. Yours is very clean, even in real life
I disliked the fact the 600RR I owned indicated 170 but you had no real "go go" in the revs, just steady rising revs... |
