So has anyone been pulled over for their visor?
I was thinking of buying a nice blue visor for my helmet, but they aren't road legal and I would obviously use it all the time. Any opinions?

Never been pulled for it, never had it mentioned when pulled for anything else. Buy one, don't wear it at night, don't worry about it.

Only a knob jockey officer will pull u for that, esp when it's generally safer to ride a bike without the sun blinding u!!

Me personally i've never been stopped for a tinted visor, i was out with a few mates and they did single out one person who had an Iridium visor and he got fined for it.

How much, out of interest?

It was about 8 years ago, it was £30 or £60. We had a traffic cop in our group and he was told of a way to question the ticket that it might get dropped.
I never asked what the outcome was

I have a dark tint visor on at the moment, had it since the clocks changed and put the sun right in my face during my commute to work, seen plenty of police and no trouble yet.

There was a thread a while back about DIY tinting visors with peel off tint, so if stopped you could remove it at the roadside rather than carrying two visors. Can't find it now though...

Got a dark tint visor on all my helmets (and dark/mirror lenses in my off road goggles) and have done for as long as I've been riding, which is over 30 years.

Never been mentioned if I've been stopped, nor have the illegal lids I've worn over the years.

I would think the chances of you being stopped just for that are almost nonexistant, much more likely that you will be stopped for something more serious and it might get tagged on as an afterthought.

Have clear visor stuffed in a holder. Will likely be unobtrusive inside your leathers unless you are unusually sized. You will end up getting caught out by lack of daylight unless you are the most sunday afternoon of all bikers ever.

Never been pulled for it.

I ride with a heavily tinted visor all the time.

(I often do get caught out when it gets dark, but that's just laziness of changing it more than anything).

I've been pulled for other stuff, and even whilst looking over my tyres trying to find something to do me on, the visor wasn't mentioned. Plate was though.

Yes of course officer, it will be the first thing I get changed...

Get a dark one, carry a clear one that's legal. If you get pulled, swap them over, job done.

Also carry one if it goes dark as if you wear a dark one at night you gon git raped by the popo.

I think there was some sort of memo published to the police that said "Yeah it's illegal but don't pull people for it if it's sunny cause it's a waste of police time".

Or something like that.
