Hi all

Im new to this forum , all the help i can get would be greatly appreciated.

Took my vfr out for a spin , this only started yesterday , for the first few miles the bike was running fine and all of a sudden temp gauge and rev gauge are non operational ,the lights on the bike and around ignition are non functional , the bike has lost alot off power almost seems as if it was running out of gas like the bike was stammering and shaking then all of a sudden everything is working again.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the fuse box, then the wiring on the back side of the clocks and around the main fuse. Thumbs Up

Also, check the battery leads and terminals, I've seen many bikes with damaged terminals and when on a bumpy road it was disconnecting the battery from the the circuit. Corrosion on the terminals also can lead to such a behaviour, clean the terminals while you're in there.

Make sure the CDI is fastened down correctly. If they can move about, it can damage the wires where they enter the box. Sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere.

where would i be able to locate the cdi unit, i don't have a clear wiring diagram on hand. So all my power loss could just be from some faulty wiring? Shocked

Well now, leaking battery, dropping charge, well, get a new battery and if you still gonna have problems, it's all the above said. Thumbs Up

Update on the issue i finally received my new battery popped it in and same problem , i then proceeded to do full wiring check to find 2 bubbled up/half melted fuses in the fuse box aswell as a blackening around one of the pins on the regulator.

I wonder if there is not another issue causing all of this.

Please help Shocked

Considering that you have no manual (probably wouldn't hurt to buy one if you like to try to fix stuff yourself rather than have a garage do it) photo's indicating the positions of the dead fuses may help us identify which circuits have issues

The fuses that blew were for the ignition lights the neutral and indicator , funny enough the headlights didnt blow at all , the other was for the temp gauge which is now working , i will put up a picture when i get back , also wondering what could burn/blacken the one pin on the regulator?
