How do you treat your nuts?

Haynes says for my bike to add engine oil to the threads of Rear Sprocket Nuts.
I hadn't heard of this before, grease in some situations, threadlock in others yeah ...oil seems odd.
I have learned Haynes is often treated with a pinch of salt, So how do you treat your Rear Sprocket Nuts?

Some torque settings are for a dry thread, some are for a lubricated thread.

They can be very different to achieve the same degree of tightness. Presumably your manual is quoting the level for a lubricated thread.

I use copper grease on the threads but nylock nuts. Best of both worlds. They undo, but only when you want them to.

Hi

You might find the sprocket nuts have a special thread to deform at the end so act as a self locking nut. If so they probably should be replaced occasionally.

I put them on dry normally.
