Extremely Close Call Motorcycle - Emergency Braking With Pas

I've been receiving a lot of positive responses on how this situation was handled. Many riders have been suggesting I share the video with other motorcyclists to show what is possible when emergency braking on two wheels, especially for those new to the sport. Technique: I used a combination of down shifting to activate engine braking along with feathering both the front and rear brake. I even tried getting the driver to move by flashing my high beams at them.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. Yeah I saw no point in making it into a confrontation. Total lose, lose. Just rode on. Video went up as it was my first week back on a bike (after being off for nearly 8 years) when that happened. I think it's good rider education to post them. Might entice someone to practice safety skills.

I think I can smell an attention whore.

I've experienced extremely close calls and this video doesn't show one. It almost looks like another lame attempt of someone trying to find justice between complete strangers on the internet.

Whilst I appreciate a downshift for engine braking as much as the next guy, my initial reaction in that situation would not be to pull in the clutch - if that's what you were doing, to perform the downshifts, of course.

I think your sub-frame is bent too, the passenger seems to be sitting at an angle.

Dealing with that was surprisingly a calming experience. Maybe I'm off a bit, but all you do is react. There's no time for thinking or emotions while in the moment. Just wanted to make sure my passenger was safe.
