At the risk of wrecking this thread with a serious answer, why fit wider tyres? You'll still only have the same amount of rubber in contact with the road, possibly less since bigger tyres are designed to squidge into the tarmac with a lot more weight pressing down on them.

narrower tyres let you turn in faster, broad tyres turn in slowly.

Kickstand eliminators are not a performance advantage.

For a given weight and tyre pressure, the contact patch will stay constant, so a wider tyre will deform less and harder to get up to temperature. Why fat tyres on a race bike then? Because in race conditions managing the heat dissipation through the tyres is an issue.

Furthermore, the higher the ground pressure and smaller the contact patch the smaller the risk of aquaplaning in the wet.

This changes on loose surfaces where low ground pressure and a tread pattern that digs into the surface over a large area is advantageous.
