Removing the tacho drive worm gear from a honda sohc

Hi. I'm new here, but have been enjoying reading threads for ages now, and at last I've come up with a constructive question for my first post.

I discovered that the tacho drive worm gear (the one that is driven by the centrifugal oil filter) on my project wreck has only half of its allotted teeth. So I tried to remove it.
At least I didn't have to worry too much about damaging it, so levering it with a screwdriver, attaching a mole grip and 'surprising it' with a mallet, pulling it with a pair of long nosed pliers, and all of them together, did nothing at all.

When I cleaned up the bottom of the gunge filled hole that should be where the tacho cable fits I discovered that there is an oil seal deep down in the casing.

So I figure that I was just being too tentative ~ but before I get serious with it, I though I'd defer to the centuries of combined wisdom that exists here on the forum.
Anyone here ever got one out before? And more importantly got another one back in?
Any tips?

Should say that the engine is a Japanese made Honda cb100n, but essentially the same sohc engine as the cb125s xl, sl, tl 125 family.

I removed this part from my XL, I don't remember it needing much force to get it out.
There is an oil seal and thrust washer that need to come out before you can remove the whole thing.
If it's not turning and siezed you need to sort that out first!

I had looked at quite a few of the cmsnl cb125 diagrams, where it's absent, but not the xl125.

Yes part number three is the one - the thing isnt seized, just not sure how to get at that oil seal and thrust washer down at the bottom of the cable fitting hole.

Am i right in assuming that the thrust washer is held in place by the oil seal - so it should follow it out?
