Are BMW expensive comparing to the competition? Or it's just a myth?
KTM Superadventure £15,999
Ducati Multistrada - £12,995
Yamaha Super Tenere - £12,799
Honda Crosstourer - £12 399
BMW R1200GS - £11.900
Triumph Tiger Explorer. £11,599
Kawasaki Versys 1000 - £9,599
V-Strom 1000 - £8.900
BMW G650GS costs £9 less than Honda NC750.
Honda Pan European - £14 699 - BMW R1200RT - £13 350
BMW bikes are also good on fuel. At higher speed BMW F800GT has better fuel consumption than nc700... and twice the power

The prices are for the most basic models but Honda is often more expensive without the available extras anyway. ____________________ MCForum meetup - One of the biggest motorcycle clubs in UK |

So far I'd give my Nazi Tractor a qualified thumbs up. It's not been expensive to buy or own.

12 months / 6000 mile minor, or 24 months / 12,000 mile valve check major?
I was surprised to be quoted only £205 for the 12,000 mile major last year. Anecdotally they don't actually measure the shims, they just plug it into the überdiagnosemaschine and take some temperature readings.
Not that I paid for it because apparently that lot have never had a bike in that didn't "need" something done, and they have a rep for being more keen to bill for work than to actually do it.
Sadly for some buyers FBMWSH does mean something other than an aborted sneeze. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Comparable power and torque to the '700' (although curiously it makes them a bit higher than the NC twin), much the same rev limit, fuel economy is good too.
Weighs a claimed 47kg less.
Short one gear though, no magic tank-boot (need a Scarver for that) and it's quite thumpy thumpy, tingly prostate.
I quite liked the G650GS that I tried, it made me feel all manly bouncing off the rev limiter repeatedly.
However, I went for the 800 twin "650" - thanks BMW - instead as being better for all those long trips that I haven't really done on it. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Big single not great for distance at A road/motorway speeds (I have had many).
Also; main purpose is for poor ewan and thingy wannabes, as I understand it .
Try riding a minitwin (SV650); even the twin lover wave was wearing away at the rev-limiter, thanks to only the subtlest of symptoms your revs are rising. |
