Hello !

So few day ago i bought my new(first) bike it is hyosung comet 650 naked year 2005. It have around 12500km. The battery and front tire are new. The last owner told me that last season he only make around 800km with it and he have not do(change) anything on it.
I will like to travel a long distance with it so can someone please tell me what (liquids, oils, etc.) i better change or check before i hit the road, and what tools is it nice to have with you on every day ride.
Also if someone is familiar with the same bike please let me know if there is any commone problem so i prepare on it. And is it smart idea at all because the bike is very cheap and some people are saying that it will fall a part if you push it hard.

Thanks.

Take a torque wrench and a new cylinder head in your back pack, 2 wheels (one over each shoulder), brake calipers (one in each pocket) new battery too if you can fit it in your pack. Stick a new piston with oil seals in your top pocket too. Best get an engine gasket kit as well.

All I can say is my mate has a chinese bike and it's a nightmare, never runs right, broke down 6 times on our last ride, kept cutting out, ruined the ride tbh!

To be honest, you may be better off asking at https://korider.com/

Anecdotally and from memory, the cam chain tensioners had some weird clockwork-spring arrangement rather than a simple coil spring mechanism and were prone to snapping without warning on the pre 2007 bikes. I don't know if you can replace them with later models.

Swinging arm rots out in the middle same as on the 125/250 models.

Which of the above has any bearing on the bike in question?

The Hyosung 650 didn't have any major faults from what I remember although I gather spares might well be a problem at present.

To late for you, but I would be more inclined to go for a variant of the SV just for the dealer back up rather than the very similar Hyosung. (there are no interchangable parts despite it's similarity).
