Howdy all. I'm looking to get a bike to commute to work. i live in Huddersfield and the closest dealer sells Honley. Being new to the motorcycle game i spent some time doing research and the basic consensus is dont touch Chinese bikes, buy a Japanese bike. Now, aftyer speaking with the dealer it was made apparent that the Honley HD1 is make in the same factory as Yamaha YBR, is in fact pretty much the same as a YBR with a different body kit but is made in China. Im confused, all the research i have done says that a Yamaha YBR is a decent bike but it is made in China?

I want a new bike for the warranty but i cant afford a Japanese bike so this seems like a good idea but i would like a more seasoned opinion on the matter.

any thoughts would be helpfull.

That's an informative website, it doesn't even say if the 250 is a single or a twin.

Thanks for the info. I'll have a look at the Lexomoto and a used YBR. I've budgeted about £2000 for bike, helmet, jacket and gloves (I have the rest).

Not an expert on far eastern 125s but the Kymco Pulsar LX
we bought cheap seems an OK bike for what it is and may be worth considering if one comes your way.

Parts are available from David Silvers ( long time Honda spares place) among others
Now we've fixed the problems caused by the poor mechanics the previous owner trusted, in its running fine
Seen others for sale pretty cheaply too.

Of course its too early to say what it will be like long term
but as I reckon most bikes suffer more from owners than anything else, if looked after it should do OK.

Why has this thread got such a spam rating?

Thanks for all the replies , i am thinking now to go for a second hand Honda or Yamaha.

I will be putting around 14000 miles a year on it with my 60 mile daily roundtrip so reliability is a key factor

if i worked for them why would i be asking advice about their bikes? Its just where the blog post was.

If i was trying to promote these bikes surely i would be saying i had one of there bikes and how amazing it is.

I cant actually find anyone that owns one to ask what they are like, while keeping my eyes out lately i've never even seen one on the road. seen loads of Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki.

173 Miles from a single tank sounds about right - 173 MPG does not!

If warranty is a factor for you, you would be better-off with a better-known make, with a good dealer servicing and parts network.

Due to the massive depreciation on new Chinese bikes though, I think you would be wise to spend much less on an older, more reliable machine, learn to do your own routine maintenance, and keep back some of your hard-earned to pay for parts and service consumables.
