Monkey bike electrics.

I've a dax copy and getting no charge into the battery.
It's a new stator fitted into a new stomp yx140, using standard stomp flywheel.

It has a regulator and the lights work when revved but no voltage change in the battery.
I would expect the white and yellow stator wires to be live when running but they show as neutral.

Could it be down to the flywheel, which I believe to be a lightened one?

Any suggestions?

pictures of flywheel insides, reg/rec wires and stator with wires may help.......how much air gap tween f/wheel magnets and stator poles??

Could it be possible that the battery isn't recieving any charge because it's already fully charged? What runs off the battery anyway?

It has the battery to charge. Runs lights, indicators etc.
when I was checking it the other day it was just at 11.7v, running or not.
The lights are powered direct from stator and are fine when you Rev it.

the diagram I have looks a similar arrangment as many small jap bikes
and shows a yellow for running lights and white for
charging the battery
the yellow will give AC from the stator direct to the lighting circuit

However, the white needs to be rectified and regulated before the battery to get a useful DC
Rectified to DC and regulated to keep the charging voltage within limits

Do you have a rectifier fitted and is the AC being rectified?

It isnt the flywheel or you'd get no output at all and no lights
My guess:
either a break in the wiring on that phase
or
it isnt gone through an RR

Does your flywheel have two coils or one?

BTW, it seems lightened flywheels aren't recommended for a YX140, they can cause some serious probs:-

Is it an inner rotor kit? Because they have no charging ability. Swap stator and flywheel to a standard 140. Be careful the 125 ones look very similar but are marginally different and will shred the woodruff key.

I Have swapped the yellow and white while it was running, no difference.
It's an outer rotor.
I fitted a lighting stator when I fitted the engine, it wasn't charging so I fitted a 6 coil charging stator and it made no difference.

Fitted it and it's exactly the same.

I've got pics now.

The stator is 83mm, the id of the magneto is 86mm.

Ive checked the continuity of the earth, yellow and white wires, swapped the white and yellow around, checked voltages.
white and yellow voltages taken, they both have about 2v ac on tickover and one has about 6v and the other 15v when you rag the crap out of it.

The output voltage went up about 0.1v dc when ragging it.

Why is that extra red wire there?

That stator looks commonplace and
ignoring the other wires as it runs,
the usual configuration is
The white goes to the rectumfrier to be rectifed to DC for the battery
the yellow goes to the light switch (for lights obviously) and is tapped
in to the regulator too to keep the voltage within bounds.

To sum up
It runs and you have lights, but little or no charge voltage at battery
swapping W&Y and new RR makes no difference.
Its always hard to diagnose at a distance but I'd be investigating that scotchlok bodge first to see if its dragging the stator output down.

I put the red one in as that is the live output that should charge the battery, done with a scotchloc so i can take it off.
