He knew how to ride and he knew that track well. Like hell I would even try to go like that on the bends even after a few laps. The scraping is a dead giveaway.

One thing it does show is how a lot of riders don't reach anywhere near their bikes potential, me included.

When I hear people giving this or that model of bike a bad rap or derisory term I usually ask them what in particular they did not like about the bike.

Invariably they have never owned or ridden the bike they were referring too, just parrotted out what they heard or read somewhere to make it seem like they know what they are talking about.

When I've thought about it, most people I know have owned or ridden fewer than 10 bikes, one or two of them know everything about hundreds of bikes, especially when the beer is flowing

Not sure on your point with that. I've not owned but have ridden more then 10 in the short time I've been riding.

Also most reputations are deserved. Ill bet if you stuck that guy on one of the hyper bikes he was pasting, the video would be very different. In fact it was a bit dickish really. If it was the novice group, this guy keeps hammering through and crowding them. Would probably unsettle most who are trying to learn.

I claim it's never really about the motorcycle or a car, it's all about the rider. I also find it easier to go fast on something that was never meant to be fast, rather than on an actually fast motorcycle. The ZXR was a big eye opener for me.

If the motorcycle/car is in well working order of course.

Some of the other riders seemed more interested in getting their knee down that taking a decent line.

Unless Deauvilles are much quicker than NTV600s (which I did once test ride) I don't believe that is 50bhp, it looks far too lively. Helps that the tacho doesn't work too, so you can't see how quickly it climbs through the revs..

Yes Recman, that's another thing. Everyone wants to be Rossi, Biaggi, and other big names, but they are all missing the point. The knee down is not what you should aim for really. It's actually quite the opposite. You want to keep the motorcycle as upright as it's possible to have some grip. When you see the GP riders in those extreme lean angles, they are going feck fast and they get as much as grip they can at that kind of speed.

On the other hand, people riding slow and dragging their knees is actually counterproductive, because you are sacrificing the grip for the show and loads of them just get high/lowsiders because of that.

An example: I could go through a corner at 60 mph with 100% grip, or 60% of grip at the same speed, but looking cool dragging my knee on the tar. That's how this works. GP riders don't do it for the show.
