Hi!
Nothing wrong with a little scoot if you're finding it fun. I'm always impressed by the cost, or lack of, to run smaller bikes. I used to get pulled over a lot on my MT5 and my C70, two up no L plates. I just like small bikes. Even the 4hp those two 'peds have will propel me and a mate along at 30mph fairly easily. On a very good run, I can get 125MPG out of the Cub, my dad has managed 138MPG, but he's a bit more gentle than me, despite being heavier.
Sounds like you got a nice little run-around there. ____________________ Current:1991 Honda MT50 (Soon to be a H100/MTX/MT5 hybrid), 1976 Honda Cub C70, 2005 Honda Varadero 125, 1993 Yamaha TTR250 Open Enduro , 2010 Road Legal Stomp YX140, 1994 Honda CRM 250 MK III, 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, Stomp T4 230, 1984 Honda H100s, 2009 Sym XS125K

Damn, I'd kill a man for an RD500, probably their family as well.
But like you say it would be too fast for my level of maturity.
I would probably skip the 125 stage too, not worth it really unless it's something with some poke, like a Mito, or similar, in which case you might as well get a more reliable 250/400 with even more poke anyway. ____________________ Current:1991 Honda MT50 (Soon to be a H100/MTX/MT5 hybrid), 1976 Honda Cub C70, 2005 Honda Varadero 125, 1993 Yamaha TTR250 Open Enduro , 2010 Road Legal Stomp YX140, 1994 Honda CRM 250 MK III, 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, Stomp T4 230, 1984 Honda H100s, 2009 Sym XS125K

Oh, I can think of something.

That was what I started on, or the Huniao branding of it - same bike, made by Dihao. Surprisingly decent for the price, good parts support, helpful owners forum. Not quick, but very easy to get on with.
But while I'm evangelising, I will say that my Enfield is an actual real motorcycle that can actually be used in the real world for riding around.
Again, not quick, but it will "keep up with the flow of traffic" anywhere except a motorway full of repmobiles.
The 2009/2010 onwards fuel injected "UCE" models are almost (but not quite) modern vehicles.
Related to your situation, it's the only bike I've had which has receive unqualified approval from the missus. It's very hard to object to an Enfield. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
