What is the best modification you've made to your machine?

Race can/sprocket change/Re-map/K&N?

Mine would have to be my TRE. For £4.99 (ebay) you gain about 30bhp in the first 3 gears turning a bike thats already a neat wheelie machine into a beast that wants to backflip everytime you blip the throttle. Fitted in 30seconds and can be turned off at the flick of a switch(still ain't turnd it off yet, EVER).
Can't beat that for value for money.

Explain please??!! Confused I have no idea what that is....

I would say my race can but it's probably my Renthal chain and sprockets and also swapped to my Avon's from crappy Metzlers...

It became a totally different bike aftert that.
Dyno jet and filters are also on the cards tho! Laughing

What does that do exactly? Is that for fuel injected bikes only?

Basically most newish thous and some smaller bikes are kinda restricted in the first couple of gears to stop you flipping them. The timing is retarded.
So a TRE kids your ECU into thinking your either in neutral all the time as mine does or in 5th gear.

Bikes that have a speed limiter can also be fooled by a similar device that makes the bike think its in 5th gear when really its in 6th. Therefor letting it rev all the way out in top gear and over 186mph. Razz

Can't say I found the TRE on my TL1000R that impressive, it does give it more edge in the first three gears but it'd still power wheelie without quite happily.

And they're ~£20 on eBay not £5. Confused

It was cheap and fitted to the bike when I bought it, but they're not that impressive really.

Best mod? I'd have to say down gearing my ZX6R was the best mod I've made to a bike. Much better acceleration, better value and gains than a TRE.

Is that just 1 tooth down at the front?
I found a difference changing my (fcuked) chain and sprockets to quality items....

Best mod for a bike... probably the twin airhorns I fitted to my GPZ750R.

Downgeared it.

Race can, K&N, dynojet aren't all that noticeable (apart from the noise) but one tooth down at the front and four up at the back is. Smile

Have always fancied air horns though. Cool

I'd say that downgearing was one of the best things that I've done to a few bikes. Changes the whole feel of the bike. I'm not bothered about 100mph+ and I love corners. Mr. Green

Yes.

Make a bike more fun at the end of the scale you actually use all the time.

Yes.

Basically it lowers your top speed but ups the acceleration. Oh and wheelies.

If you like that sort of thing. Altho ive hear it a) loses your licence alot better and b) makes riding on motorways for long periods of time abit weird.

Oh and if your speedo doesnt run from your front wheel it will overread.

Hmmmmm....
Dunno if I'll bother, my bike wheelies well enough as it is and is quick enough out of corners.
Don't bother much with M,ways but still like to see the dark side of the speedo sometimes! Laughing

A little bit of downgearing can increase your top end, by letting the bike actually get to the redline in 6th, which the stock gearing doesn't always do.

I think i still have the application somewhere, where you put in the top speed in all the gears with one ratio, then write in the new ratio and it tells you your top speed.

And then you guess that you'll t ake off like shit on a stick

Since my speedo runs off the front sprocket can I just change the rear sprocket and not make a difference to the reading?

No, because the speedo works by the assumption at x revs in y gear you will be doing z speed. Therefore if you are at x revs in y gear with a different final drive then you will be doing z speed minus a margin.
