What are peoples thoughts on the new changes to the smoking law.

So from what I can work out.....

If you are 17 and solo in your vehicle you can smoke freely.
If you are 17 and have a friend, and are both smoking in your private vehicle then it becomes illegal?
Because it will be illegal to smoke in a multi occupied vehicle if anyone is aged under 18.

I gave up smoking in 2004. Bizarrely I don't mind getting a lungful of passing smoke. I don't miss the stench on clothes, everything else etc.

I'd never smoke in a car with a non-smoker, regardless of age, and never did before any smoking laws. It's a sad day when we need a law to tell us it's a pretty disgusting and inconsiderate thing to do.

Illegal:
for a person of any age to smoke in a private vehicle that is carrying someone who is under 18

for a driver (including a provisional driver) not to stop someone smoking in these circumstances

Does private mean work or personal? So if someone is driving their daughter home from school and chooses to smoke in their own car, any other driver who witnesses this is obliged by law to stop them? Please tell me i'm just having a spaz attack and woefully misinterpreted this.

If not, those dickhead sherriff of the road motovloggers are gonna have a field day.

I'm a non smoker, I allow friends who are smokers to smoke in my car providing they open a window.

Same goes for my flat.

Stupid rule, but I mean that purely from the enforcement point of view.

They can't enforce the phone rule at the moment so what chance this.

It says this does not apply to e-cigarettes. Some e-cigarettes look just like ordinary fags from a distance.
