651cc-1000cc is up 36.6%. and once again for luck

Few surprises in the class and capacity leaders. R1200GS, Harley Sportster 883, PCX 125.

MT-07 rules the 651-1000 roost (the ABS version alone selling nearly 3 times as many as the ER6F) and for a wonder, the top selling "supersport" isn't the YZF R125 but the CBR125R.

Honda, Yamaha, BMW, Triumph take the usual top 4, but who's that at number 5. Suzuki. Time to bust out the again. Kawasaki have slipped a bit - I guess focussing on a bunch of 250s and 300s and a not-a-cruiser hasn't been quite the winning gambit they'd have hoped for.

But smiles (mostly) all round. Bring on that swathe of sweet, sweet low mileage nearly-new MT-07s.

To me the stats suggest we are coming out of recession more now, and more buyers are buying for fun, and newbies are going DAS instead of working up though the A1-bullshit class's.

People not buying as many dreary commuter's, but leisure bikers, lifestyle biker's, wannabe Charly and thingy's, and middle age sensible first big bike purchases seem to be where most win is being made?

TBH being stuck on an A1 licence, with the ability to go A2 next April the Kawa 300's look interesting. I could go DAS and take the theory but as a commuter the Kawas still look nice to me.

I've never bought a car or bike on finance.

It does make me wince a little when I see my wife's friend driving round in a car that's worth twice what I'm driving and knowing that she earns about a third of what I do. How the hell can anyone see that as a good idea or a priority?

There's got to be a point where you reckon you'll never be out of debt, so you might as well enjoy whatever people are daft enough to lend you.

I'm really not sure how much that applies in the bike world, although I'd imagine that most R1200GS are on the never-never.

Am I the only one who thinks finance is fantastic? Providing you have a reliable income I really don't see the problem, same with credit cards - just gives you flexibility to do what you want, when you want.

Bought my bike brand new on finance and never looked back, doubt I will. Being able to own a 5.8k bike at 120 quid a month is a godsend.. Paying an extra 200 quid or so on top for the privilege is definitely worth it for me.
