Rs125 not starting again, urgent help needed.

Recently had problems starting my rs125, after changing the battery the bike worked fine for about a week but then it would not start again.
The voltage in the battery reads 11.2v.
The previous owner had an alarm installed but removed it upon selling it leaving a wire that is not connected to anything, could this have drained the battery?
Help is needed urgently.

Does sound like it's not charging or the battery is knackered. The lowest the battery should "sit" is around 11.6v and even that's not good.

Get a multimeter out and check the DC voltage across the battery terminals while the bike is running. Give the bike some revs and see what happens. The voltage should jump up to about 14.8v with some revs and sit around 13v on idle. Turning lights on should drop the voltage to about 11.8v - 12.3v

When I put my wiring together I had a ridiculous issue whereby the main negative earth to the frame from the battery had a dodgy connection. Give the wires a wriggle all along the loom - starting with the main NEG/POS while reving the engine a bit and watching the meter at the same time. Start with simple stuff before you worry about replacing regulators and rectifiers.

Meanwhile, you're going to have to charge the battery every night until you find the problem.

That loose wire...dunno. Depends how the alarm worked, if it was an immobilizer of some sort it's more likely to cause an issue with the ignition I'd imagine.

Yup.....just sounds like your battery isn't charging for whatever reason. First thing to do is check the charging rates with a multi meter, (Maplins have a good one at half price at the mo if you havn't already got one). 'Plenty of info on here about how to do it. Regulator/rectifier is usually the prime suspect. If you're worried about the spare wire, double over the end and tape it up.

The bike works fine once you charge it but only for a couple of days.
Mysteries -I will charge the bike and check the voltage when running.
Wafer thin ham - that would be due to being at work.

Vincent - The current voltage is 11.2 and it is not starting. Before it was turning over but now no noise is made when the stater button is pressed.

MCN - I work from 8:30 am till 2 pm then 4 pm till 9 pm, that would be why I haven't replied.

As for the noise, before it was turning over when the starter button was pressed but now no noise is being made.

It seems your bikes charging circuit is failing , or ,there's a fault on the earth return.

You can check the power coils with a multimeter ,or, if not technical sort ,pay a garage to do it . There's three coilks in the Genny , one for the spark\ cdi ignition,another for charging the battery and another for the main lights.

OP, these really do work and last if treated with a bit of care, not for rough handling or chucking around, can't go wrong with a multimeter.
