The gritty surface will wear off very quickly and the felt will rip easily.

You are better off with ant-slip paint or strips of anti-slip tape.

Is it a metal, cement, masonry wood ramp?
Chicken wire is a fix if you can be arsed stapling it onto a wooden ramp.
The anti-slip method is another.

Ghetto is to paint with exterior gloss.
Sprinkle some coarse sand over the wet surface.
When it dries over paint the sand and paint.
A couple of coats may be needed to bond the sand in place.
You can repair it any time then.

For a more posher look, mask off the border before putting down the sand. Looks like a pro did it.
The anti-slip tape can be expensive.
