Well if there is a weak mixture then it will get hot.
If it has a weak injector then swap to feed another cylinder and see if the fault follows the injector.

hydraulic tappets on this bike?????

does it loose compression when it misfires?? and when were the valve clearances checked / adjusted?

Stuff a paperclip in the dealermode connector. The connector is under the seat on the left.

Best thing to do is pull the connector out of it's hiding place and ride the bike with the pillion seat off. When the FI light comes on stop the engine with the red switch but LEAVE THE IGNITION ON. Find the connector, connect the two wires with a paperclip, read the code on the dash.

All codes are wiped when the ignition is turned off, so you have to read the code before that.
