Stalling it when pulling away is a revs vs biting point issue. keep at it... you'll get there. You'll need a fair few revs to get it going. Probably more than a car would, if that's what you're comparing it to. The wet clutch is designed to slip, so let it out gently, while adjusting the revs. Maybe try from stationary - high revs, 2k ish and slow off the clutch to get a better feel for it?
If you do stall pulling away in first - don't panic, and don't faff about with the gears. Assuming you tried to pull away in 1st just clutch in and thumb the starter to get going again. Takes no time at all.
The bike will slow quite quickly on roll-off... again you'll get used to that. Pulling in the clutch is probably not a habit you'll want to get in to. Smooth with all the controls... will come with practice. ____________________ CBT - Oct 13. Theory - July 14. Mod 1 & 2 - June 15.

The only way to overcome the butterflies/nerves is to keep on getting out there
So practice. practice, practice.
When I first passed my CBT and got a bike, I would head out to the nearest roundabout (less than a mile away), go round, head home Just to get a feel for the bike.
I would also spend time just stopping and pulling away again, easy to do on a residential street, middle of the day, barely any traffic. Not so fun in the summer holidays with a bunch of gawping kids.
I found it useful to pick an objective, and practice it.
Like the stopping/starting, or hill starts, or smoother gear changes.
It does take time to get used to new stuff, so give yourself a break, you will get it.
Once you've gotten the hang of one thing, you tend not to need to think so much about it the next time. |

Like the guys say , relax don,t panic , practice practice practice as Mr hedgehugger says..
Domminate the road , don,t let the car drivers bully you , if they have to wait because you have stalled , then its no big deal , good luck , you will get there in the end , we have all had to start somewhere. .... ____________________ Ride safe , if you can not ride safe , ride free.... |

Thanks for all the motivation/tips guys do plan on keeping at it and sure as the old saying goes practice makes perfect
@Redpanda Yes ive only tried it it at slow speeds 8-12mph in first and second gears and the revs were in the 5k region it feels as tho the break was applied sharply as soon as i begin to roll off the throttle and no coasting occurs. In first for example traveling at 8mph the bike will just jerk and break down to 3mph almost instantly. As ive said havent attempted roll off the throttle without the clutch pulled in at any higher speeds as thats the only way the bike seems to coast without throttle ____________________ New Rider |
