I'm curious whether this can be done, I can get parts machined to adapt mountings etc but the historic R6 forum threads say too much work to make it worthwhile in their opinion.

My problem is I love the looks of the 5eb, but the 5sl is apparently the better model.

I'm a n00b, casually asking why the blocks can't be swapped? Karma

No, they're totally different bikes. One's fuel injected, ones carbed etc.

There is no way unless you had two complete crashed bikes in your garage that this would be cost effective.

You'd need a loom, ecu blah blah blah from one and it's just not worth it.

Same reason an expansion chamber can't be repaired with a length of scaffold tube.

It would be easier to bodge 5EB fairings onto a 5SL if you really like the looks that much.

What aspect of the 5sl do you consider to be better?

They calmed the handling and engine down a bit.
Also less second gear issues.

The charm of the 5eb was it's flightyness to me.

After buying some 5sl track fairings for my 5eb race bike in a groggy late night ebay session I found out that they CAN be fitted that way around with a few mods. So presumably you could fit them the other way around.

All seems a bit silly to me.
I'd just get a 5EB and consider what to do if/when there are engine problems.

Was thinking this, maybe.

G, I don't, i'm new to both models and wanted to gauge without saving up then spunking needless cash on a silly project.

but in a few weeks I should have ~3K to play with and always wanted a 5eb, my logical mindset was get a 5eb as a work bike (courier) but nobody has any positive feedback at this notion. Neutral

Maybe an SL with EB fairings is the way. Thumbs Up

With £3k you can get a 'better bike'.

I can't see any good reason to not just buy a 5EB if looks are the most important factor.

Anything else is spanking needless cash on a silly project, I'd say.

I wouldn't choose one as a daily courier bike though - any sports 600 to be lumpy at slow speeds due to high revving high gearing. (Big twins are also bad for this.) But with your budget you could easily get two bikes to cover both.

Wot G said.

I was one of the naysayers on Facebook dude, simply because I think you'd regret trying to courier on an R6.

That said, you can pick up a nice 5EB for under 2k, and that would leave plenty for a more courier friendly bike Thumbs Up

I wondered if any of the group commentors would pop their heads in here Laughing I've since seen 2 or 3 on the bay under the 2K mark, maybe a 5eb as the personal one and something like an NTV as a work hack?
