As above, plus buy a self-adhesive sticker of the national flag of the alleged offending country, and display it in a prominent position on the bike. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

Too narrow.

I'm not interested in threesomes. At least, not when it involves another bloke.

The local plod would be too bone idle to do anything about it anyway, but it must be a small deterrent if nothing else (one would think.)

If no, then at the worst I'd be putting the steering lock on and chain the bike to make it as hard to wheel away as possible. I'd park the bike with the steering lock on facing the kerb so that they have no other choice but to lift the bike in an attempt to move it.
Remove battery each night?
Remove spark plug?
Unplug and replug a wire each night / morning?
Buy an alarm?
Rent a garage or parking nearby? (gumtree)
Install a ground anchor into the wall of the house and park it on the path?
F the council and install a ground anchor on the road? |
Can't lock the bike to any lamppost or signpost as it will obstruct the pavement. Locking it to a drain cover is a good idea but I'd never get a regular parking spot on one.
I'm not worried about anti-thief measures as such (though it will certainly be alarmed\padlocked) as my bro's street regularly has cop cars passing and nosey neighbours keeping an eye on things. I'm more concerned about idiots shoving it over for a laugh and then legging it. It's not exactly my pride and joy, but I don't want to get up for work and have to deal with a cracked engine casing and an oil leak at 5 O' clock in the morning.

Then the English will trash it. Maybe I should get an EU flag and everyone will be happy.

Not too much damage I hope? Also, do you find your bike is rusting prematurely from being left out all the time?
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I suppose I'm just going to have to do it anyway. If anyone fucks with it I will just sell my bike and get a couple of old shitters to run about on that I won't worry about. Or maybe it would be safer to use the free MC parking in town (only a 5 min walk away.)
BTW, this is where I'm moving to.

three of my bikes live in the street, one thing I've started doing is cable tying my covers onto the bikes, underneath joining the eyelets together, and too the bike if possible, as well as bungying them down. Just slows scrotes down ever so slightly more.
It's not that expensive, cable ties are cheap, a slight fiddle every morning cutting the cable tie(s) with a pocket knife, but doesn't slow me down overly. I make sure the locks can't touch the ground, (hitting with a hammer).
Started doing this, as less than 4 hours after I'd bought my CBX750F someone had nicked the cover. I assumed they'd come back later and have a go at the bike..... |

Not been to Boston for years but when I was last there it wasn't the best of areas. Had a look into those alarmed disk locks?

Of course ideally find something secure to chain it up to. Better yet, if there is a police station 'around the corner' try and find somewhere opposite that to park? I guess people are less likely to be getting pissed up outside Boston Plod Shop? ____________________ The why of fry |
