Helmets usually look better. The last thing I want to see riding some cool kick-ass hyperbike is a pallid man with his face pruned up from being blasted by the wind and cold.

I guess it would be a lot more comfortable without a helmet Whistle.

If I'm just going for a haircut down the road at 20 mph, I'm not really bothered putting on my helmet. Easier to just go in the car.

Not that i give a fuck if your brains get splattered as it reads as you dont have much anyway, however. I do care about how much of an impact seeing someones brains splattered over the road could have on children and others may not want to see it also. Paramedics may also get sick of shoveling brains up.

Why should the tax-payer (me) have to fork out to have your carcass scraped and hosed off of the street?

There's also the possibility that you get dirt in your eyes, or get hit in the face by debris that could cause you to lose control and crash into a bus queue full of innocent kittens.

You don't have the right to visit that kind of stupidity on someone else.

I don't really fancy not wearing a helmet.

I've hit what I could only describe as a bee the size of a small child at *ahem* 70mph and it sounded like being hit by a fucking hammer. Left a god awful mess on my helmet.

Rather it hit that instead of my head.

I think because the taxpayers here cover the NHS, enforcing the helmet policy is in some ways more sensible. Granted it infringes mah freedumz etc...

In the states it's not as much of an issue as you essentially have to pay for all the damage you cause yourself. Plus, the licencing system there is basically "Are you alive? Have a licence!"

I see no reason why we should lose the helmet law. It would never happen anyway I mean who would want to be responsible for scrapping it?

If you didn't wear a helmet, how could petrol stations make you remove it before turning on the pump?

Think, man.

Taking a stroll a little further along those lines why should any tax payer have to fork out for bikers at all? There are much safer and more stable four wheel motorised conveyances to travel in.

It might be cheaper to get one of those bin cleaning fellows to come by and spray the residue up for £2 than it would be to pay for a lifetime of disability because someone lives yet potatoes themselves with extreme predudice.

You never used the won't someone please think of the children argument Laughing

I'd imagine for children to be seeing that it would mostly be in a town situation rather than NSL or motorway in which case they are just as likely to see a pedestrian or cyclist leaking brains already.

Personally I have no problem nipping around normal town streets sans helmet but I wouldn't do it on fast roads.

I wouldn't wear one on a bicycle doing up to 35mph, and averaging nearly 20mph.

Why is the risk greater on a motorcycle around town?

In fact, could say that since a restricted 50cc moped can only do 31mph. Helmets shouldn't be compulsory.

To be fair your the one who mentioned the bicycle so you should answer it. Also helmets are recommend on a push bike but you choose not to wear it.

It's a poor argument anyway because why should one thing being dangerous mean you should also do something else that's dangerous.

I would suspect it's more dangerous on a bicycle which is why I don't pedal on the street.

Also what possible benefit would there be to remove the helmet law? Why would anyone change a law that increases death on the road?

Certainly not saying you're less likely to have an accident in town in fact I'd guess at the opposite. I do think that at the speeds involved in town riding it's no worse than riding a push bike or getting hit crossing the road and I wouldn't wear a full face helmet for either.

It would embiggen the human spirit and reign in Nanny State a touch.

Nobody would be forcing you to not wear one.
