I understand your angst Polar...genuinely. I think limits have to be set, and stuck to rigidly.

It's the world we live in my old china, I don't like what's happening any more than you but there are things the UK can do to help the families fleeing Syria .....without bringing about the demise of the British Isles .......and doing this is something we should be proud of, it has to be better than the shame involved with doing nothing Sad

I really am enjoying this debate. Not in a sick twisted way but to see different views.

Would a way to help them be actually spend money on getting some british guns on their soil to nail ISIS instead? I'd prefer to spend money on the cause, not the effect.

It's cheaper to pay for condoms than HIV treatments.

Refugees are to claim asylum in the first safe country. Why do they skip all their safe neighbours? Kuwait? Saudi Arabia? Iran? Turkey? Oman? Qatar? And take all the risks going to mainland europe?

They cannot be refugees, they are simply migrants, and should be offered no special privileges to enter Europe.

I think the Syria case is a bit different, it's a civil war remember, if they went back to fight, who do they fight for.

Neither.

They go back and they say "Hey! Guys! How about we all stop being such dicks to each over trivial tribal and doctrinal differences, try not to take it all so seriously, and just get along despite our differences."

That's how they'll fix their dusty armpit and turn it into a secular, compassionate state. It's how Europe did it. That's why they want to come here now, to reap the benefits of our ancestor's hard work here, rather than doing it themselves there.

these refugees are the peaceful ones

They're the cowards and the quitters, the grasping spongers who are biting the hands trying to feed them.

They're the hypocrites who demand a home and a living from strangers, after abandoning their own neighbours to destitution and death.

Do. Not. Want.

Besides, these refugees are the peaceful ones, all the ones that want to pick up arms and kill their compatriots are already doing so..........or are dead. I would imagine most of the people leaving Syria are opposed to both sides of the argument. They want the problem to be sorted diplomatically rather than by a battle of attrition. IF you lok back to the start of the revolution, it was mass, peaceful protests, it was only when the regime came down on the demonstrators as hard as bricks that it got hijacked by extremists who had no problem recruiting those that had just had members of their family slaughtered in the streets.....or had their children, (or witnessed neighbours children), arrested and vicously tortured, their bodies returned battered and bruised and with varios "limbs" missing.

So after it blows over, do you reckon the fleeing people would willingly go back their homeland?

Havn't you seen the pics? The areas where a lot of these refugees came from is nothing but rubble. From what I can make out, they all seem to "love" their homeland like the rest of us but there's hardly anything left. And...as has been mentioned what sort of place will it be if ran by extremist organisations?

I've seen some pictures but what if peace returns? Non extremists. Would they return to help rebuild their country or would they just stay put and maybe go back when the people who remained rebuilt it?

Yes, the clip where his sister said that she was trying to send him the $14,000 to fix his teeth, but as she could only do $1,000 at a time, their father suggested he head to Europe to get them done.

Why is it not credible? It was his sister who said this, not some made up source.

Looks like a bad lip sync to me, and the fact no other 'news' sites were/are running with it. You'd think it would have alot more traction than just 20k views on a ukip account.

Could be she just speaks like a proper mong though!

If it exists, you'll want to make a copy as it's not part of the narrative that's been decided on.

Canada are blabbing that he never even bothered applying there, so it looks like he was leaving the safety of Turkey for the luxury of Germany.

I'm not sure what one bloke getting his teeth fixed has to do with anything but there you go.

It has to do with their decision to "flee" from their save haven in Turkey.

They weren't being hotly pursued from Syria with the very hounds of Shaitan baying at their heels, bound for Canada-or-death, as Pravda are pitching it.

At the point Abdullah (you can bet his lifejacket fitted) decided to drag his family across to Kos they were economics en route for Germany, to get the free stuff that you get when you make it there.

$14,000 worth of cosmetic dental treatment. That ultimate symbol of Third World poverty and desperation, along with lack of an iphone, that requires sending your kids across the sea illegally in a leaky old boat when they have a perfectly safe place to stay in another country, just not the one with a better welfare system you'd rather be in. My heart bleeds.

How is the true reason this idiots kids and wife are brown bread not all over the papers yet?
And they've made his single dead kid a figurehead for the bleeding heart brigade, like that somehow excuses
the rest of the locusts so why can't that work both ways?

I understand the point but why do people focus on individuals when talking about thousands of people and use their example as some sort of indication of what the other refugees are like?

Well in this particular case it would be because of the major media use of an iconic picture to sell an emotionally driven story to sell the agenda, beloved by liberals and Social Justice Warriors everywhere, that we should open the floodgates to "Syrian" immigrants, because theirs is a tear-jerking story of flight, poverty and desperation.

A decade or two ago this would have worked and the public would have bought the story hook, line and sinker. Fortunately in this immediate information age, upon scrutiny it would appear that there was no immediate poverty or desperate need for flight that caused the tragedy. Instead it was a need for a promised land, with better economic prospects and a generous welfare system as a safety net upon their arrival.

The icon appears to be somewhat tarnished. You need a new icon for refugee canonisation, meanwhile there is plenty of video evidence of "refugees" behaving in a violent, ungrateful and entitled manner when their host countries don't give them the treats they expect just for arriving upon their soil.
