The corporation says that it will make significantly more revenue from the move with TV Licensing, the body tasked with collecting the licence fee and chasing down evaders, costing more than £100m last year.

Of course they would back it. I still back the dismantling of the BBC and a move to CH4 style funding.

I wonder how many people are employed to do the tracking down of evaders...

“Investment in the creative industries pays for itself,” said the corporation. “This is because the licence fee channels resources into one of the most productive sectors of the UK economy, the creative industries,” the BBC said.

Rolling Eyes

“A move to a broadcasting levy on all households is our preferred alternative to the licence fee,” it said. “Such a levy on all households would obviate the need to identify evaders and would be a fairer way of ensuring those people who use only BBC radio and online services contribute to their costs”.

What about households that don't listen to, or watch, any of the Marxist shit that the BBC excretes?

How the shite can it be allowed that a company demands and forcibly takes money away from people, in case they may use some BBC services. Piss off. Make it subscription only if you think it's that great.

Hang on, the Marxists should be screaming for it to be funded from general taxation. A household levy is regressive, unless they exempt all scroungers.

Which is probably the point, now that I think about it. Buy some more votes by expanding the number of proles that get their circenses at the cost of the productive.

So are they suggesting that my "investment" that would be forcibly taken, would pay me back? Or do they want me to pay for their investment while they pay themselves dividends?

Do they openly publish the salaries of the high rankers? If we get "taxed", and we know the salaries of MPs and the like, shouldn't we know every bit of expenditure that the Beeb make?

The rules on accessing the BBC`s Iplayer are changing, you will need to prove you actually have a TV Licence soon.

I assume that they mean "culturally".

Details?

All I can find is an announcement of "closing the iPlayer loophole", but no indication of what that will mean.

It could mean:
Arrow Require proof of license tax to watch on iPlayer (the simple, easy to implement, hard to dodge, common sense option).
Arrow Extend the license tax to cover on-demand viewing and continue the campaign of blackmail and prosecution (the bloated burdensome pointlessly heavy handed bureaucratic solution).

Can you guess which one I reckon they'll go with? Wink

If They[1] couldn't control Pravda and push Their Common Purpose agenda[2], what would be Their incentive to continue?

[1] They being the current lot of champaign socialists and faux-Marxist meddlers.

[2] All races, creeds and colours working together in perfect tolerance and harmony, from each according to their ability, to each according to their need. Just with the leaders needing a bit more than the followers.

If it wants to force every household to pay the same whether they like or use the service, then it's about time they stepped away from their heavily slanted liberal left wing view and started showing some impartiality.

It's not far off all workers being forced to pay for a trade union.

Now that serious political decisions in the country are forced through by the media (think Kurdish economic migrant on Turkish beach), having such powerful unelected institutions forming political decision is a dangerous prospect.

Good point.

The thing In really object to is that I am paying for something I almost never use. If I pay for sky/virgin/bt I can cancel it if not happy. The BBC I can't. Subscription would be good but we all know that would be it's death knell.

As someone who does not watch live TV (indeed very little television of any kind), I'll keep my response to this proposal short and sweet. They can fuck right off! I'm sick of working hard to pay for other peoples shit.

Well we let governments/politicians away with murder in every other form of taxation so why not for the 'privilege' of telly? Very Happy

I have a few vehicles (that are taxed). I cannot ride all of them at once but have to pay road tax use it or not. Rolling Eyes (I do know 'road tax' isn't for using the road.)

I'm not saying this latest scamism is right or fair.

Speed cameras are an historical scam too. How many general elections have there been since 'scamera partnerships' (Corrupt Quangos) were introduced?
Why do we return these fucking idiots (politicians) to 'power'?
Why not run them all off?
Truth is, no one (the electorate) really gives a fuck or probably knows how to deal with such issues.
There are MUCH bigger scandals on the go. Jeremy Hunt (Health-Ministery-Cunt) is currently at the heart of one of the biggest. Who actively gives a shit? Shocked
So long as the masses have a regular dose of BB, TOWIE, MIC Strictly and X Factory all is Rosie.
George Orwell even alludes to this behaviour in 1984.

Crying or Very sad
