Because a large part of riding a motorbike is faith and belief that the machine is capable of such things.
The unfaithful doubt either their own or their machine's ability and therefore don't commit whole heartedly.
When in reality most bikes have limits WAYY above the level of the rider. Even humble machines like GPz500s can absolutely fly. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Maybe he's a fan of the Dark Dog Moto Tour that they used to run in France. I see a lot of the competitors sticking a leg out while negotiating a very tight and bumpy turn

It's a push bike thing too....a lot of youngsters that go from a push bike to a powered bike do it. Also, those that have come off on a bend in the wet recently do it. 'Does look a bit daft ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Taking your feet off the pegs is unsafe cos it raises the bike's centre of gravity. If you hit a bump while your feet are off the pegs you will wobble and weave much more and possibly lose control. The Polis and trials riders always keep their feet firmly on the pegs in slow manoeuvres. ____________________ Current bike: K1100RS. Here, when you put your foot down, you signalize a hazard on the road for the rider that's behind you. Potholes, sand, gravel..., if you put your left foot down the hazard is on the left and vice versa. But that wouldn't be this case. So, if you see a continental going straight with his foot down, you know he's not mental, he's just trying to help you. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Great system! Cycle club people have something similar because when they are slipstreaming each other only the guy at the front can see ahead. If there's a hole he shouts 'HOLE' and points with left or right fingers. Or if he doesn't feel like shouting he just points. There are various other warnings - my favourite is 'OIL UP' when there's a car ahead. If there's a car behind the rider at the back shouts 'OIL DOWN'. ____________________ Current bike: K1100RS. I picked this up from some of our European cousins when I live in the IoM. Although, I only came to realise it wasn't a typical UK thing when other folks didn't appear to realise wtf I was doing. ____________________ There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk.
