This damn bike. -.-

Choke off, idle screw adjusted but produces minimal improvement.

The throttle cable is either too short and the wrong one or the garage that built the bike fitted it wrongly, if handlebars are turned to the far left or right it revs the bike - separate issue I'm sorting.

Thing is it only really seems to be when it's warm, it doesn't do it all the time. When I start the bike it will initally rev at about 2k which is where I want it at. After a bit of riding, unless I hold the brake and clutch appropriately to keep revs low, it can rise as high as 6k revs.

Fueling issue?

Sort the cable first before mucking with anything else.

Sounds more like the bit of rubber between your engine and carb is letting air in.

To fix the unintentional throttle movement, find the manual and check where the throttle cable should be routed. Thumbs Up

I've been there, the rising idle, you can either get it warmed up and try to get the idle as slow as you can. If you can't do that, it's time for the carbs to be pulled out of the bike and checked. What motorcycle are we talking about? The GPz I had a problem with, had one ''idle screw'' and from that there was this linkage rod, with a wheel on the end, so I could fiddle with the idle. The linkage was old and well, not working really, I took the tank off, and put the ''modern'' cable there to fiddle with the idle. Worked like a charm.

Or you can just take the tank off, warm up the engine properly, set the idle with the screw/bolt right on the carbs (there's always one screw/bolt to fiddle with). On a in-line four cylinder, the idle screw/bolt is mostly between the 2nd and the 3rd carb. Near the throttle cable. Thumbs Up

NOTE: Check for air leaks! Start the engine and spray something flammable onto the rubber manifold that holds the carbs in the head. If the revs raise, you have got air leak.
