Hi Don,
You dont need to do a theory first, its not a requirement.
You only need to do a CBT, up until the point that you decide to do your full test.
At that point, you will need the theory test.
I used an app on my phone, that had all the test questions and would sit you a mock test.
You can buy books and cd rom type things from Amazon.
Good luck ____________________ Proud owner of an R6 + ZXR400

I searched for Motorcycle hazard perception on Youtube, they may not be the official ones but all you need is a feel of what sort of situations will arise, and learn when to click (i.e. when is too early, when is too late, and don't over-click). The official DVDs are all well and good, but you will no doubt get loads of scenarios in the test that weren't exactly the same as on the official DVD anyway.
General rule of thumb; spot something that will make you change direction or brake, or both. Click...wait a second then click again in case you were premature the first time. Annoying thing is that there's no exact science to when they think a hazard is a hazard. For example, A lorry coming the opposite way wants to turn across your path without looking. Is it a hazard when it's approaching the junction, or only when it fails to slow down, or when it fails to stop on the giveway line, or is it only a hazard when it pulls out in front of you? That's the hard part, but 2 or 3 clicks between *possible start point* and *obvious hazard* should do the trick. ____________________ Current: 2009 SV650 S, 1990 Kawasaki GT550

Down to the local supermarket, pick up the DVD (if you have a computer with an optical drive) and practice, practice, practice.
It's not complete common sense, there are some nutty enviro-mental questions in there. The hazard 'perception' is an exercise in pretending that you haven't actually seen a hazard develop until it's almost too late to avoid it. All very frustrating, but it's not that hard and you only need to squeak through to get a pass. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

You can get the DSA theory test & hazard perception DVD from your local torrent website. |

What a load of crap. I did my A licence 2 months ago and found the apps very useful. In fact there wasn't a single question that popped up on my test that wasn't on the app. As for clicking, waiting a few then clicking again - more bollocks.
Click once when you see the hazard, click again when the hazard develops and you might need to take avoiding action, click one last time for good luck.
It's no wonder people get so confused about this test with people like you giving advice like this. |
The app? Seriously? Are you suggesting there is single application in the app store?
I wonder where is your brilliant proof that the answers in amazon kit I suggested will not have all the questions?
And how your 3 clicks differ from my 3 clicks?
It is no wonder we have so high levels of iliteracy
And I am sorry if I offended any Apple or Android nerd. Download 200 apps from the apps store and use them all ____________________ Adrian Monk: Unless I'm wrong, which, you know, I'm not...

To be fair though, apps such as the one I linked to can be comparable in their usefulness, are cheaper and do not require waiting for delivery. They also do not require a computer with an optical drive, which can no longer be taken for granted on recent models. Not to suggest that your recommendation is invalid but apps can be viable alternatives. |

I used the android version. The only other thing of use was the advice to forget the years of early hazard spotting and to click way later.
It was good enough for me to pass first time ____________________ Slowly learning...
