When I was taking lessons for my MOD 2 my instructor would pull away from the lights at the same speed as a car and build up to the limit the same way, which obviously I copied on my test and failed.
The examiner gave me the whole "the bike has the power, use it..." speech. So the second time I went for my MOD 2 I had a different examiner (the one that done my MOD 1 ), and every set of lights I stopped at I done my checks and tried to get as far away from him as possible. A few lights had changed to amber when I was too close to stop, so I went through, so he obviously went through them on red
My instructor also said the examiners only use 1 of 2 routes, which he showed me a few times.... first examiner only used a couple of the same roads, second one used part of the road leaving the test centre then went everywhere but the places I knew, with short streets and shit loads of giveways (uphill, downhill, left and right cambers), still passed with 3 minors, 2 of which were for the making the same mistake (being told to turn left at the end of the road, and seeing the junction I'd put my indicator on, only to find there was a small side road before the junction, so cancelled the indicator and put it on again after passing the side roads) |

You believe that you could do with riding around there some more?

Can you force them to rent you their bike and accompany you to the test centre? (I assume you're doing A2 / A).
No, you can't.
1) Negotiate with them. I like the argument that they thought you were ready, twice, so what's changed their opinion?
or
2) Show, don't tell. Buy and insure your own bike on your provisionaL entitlement (try BikeSure), book the test yourself, and find some way of getting it to the test centre that wont attract the attention of the law. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

For me, getting to know an area made me ride safer and confident. I would suggest you ride around the area at least a few days to be familiar with the signs and road markings.
If you remember the route, then ride again yourself and take mental notes. Riding solo can be beneficial due to being relaxed and not having someone that generally only speaks on the mic on negative things.
Get a friend to follow you and film you if they have a go pro. Sometimes it's easier to under our own mistakes when we see the perspective of others looking at us. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

When I used to instruct it was common for peeps to be able to ride around perfectly well before the test then royally cock up on the day. Nerves leading to silly mistakes was usually the reason. The best way to minimise nerves is to spend as much time on a bike as possible, some on test routes but not all - I used to take my pupils out into the countryside at least once leading up to their test so they could actually enjoy riding rather than just doing it for the pass. Its amazing how much more confident they said they felt after a 'hoon' around the lanes. I don't know if it helped on the day, but it certainly made them happier riders beforehand...
See if your instructor is willing to do this with you or if he thinks it would be a waste of time. You never know, it may just work... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M
