41, zero no claims, newly passed rider, 2013 ER6f, full comp plus more extras than I can be arsed to type. £111
Just get some quotes. I was with Swinton last year, Bennetts this year.
Price was unchanged but the level of cover and added extras are better at Bennetts.
I thought my first year would be about 500 quid, I was pleasantly surprised. I do live in good postcode though,
IMO that's what makes the most difference. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Don't know whether it's law or not, but I got stuffed the other way around recently, trying to use bike NCB against a car, so it seems to be 100% industry standard ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>

NCB has nothing to do with the law - it's purely discretionary on the part of the insurer.
The solution is to find one that will accommodate you.
Good luck. ____________________ Suzuki Bandit 1250

You need to search out the correct companies then..
AxA or SwiftCover both do it.
I did mine in May this year.
I now have two cars. One with 10+ years NCB and another with 7 years NCB (used to be bikes)
worked out cheaper than multi car ins

Your proof of No Claims must be:
issued by your previous insurer in England, Scotland or Wales
less than 24 months old
earned in England, Scotland or Wales on a private car, or
earned in England, Scotland or Wales on a motorbike by a policy holder aged 22 or over
in your name as the policy holder
earned on a full UK or EU licence
used to insure one vehicle only

Now this may just be their own internal choice to gain customers. But does prove that there is NO LAW (or they would be in the shit)....
If any ins broker/co tries siting some LAW that does not exist. Then raise a complaint and let FOS adjudicate on the lieing scum ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Hey thanks for that. That 24 month thing does seem to be the norm, unfortunately mine was about 5 years ago. I heard that generally you lose 1 yr ncb for every unused year so it should be possible(?) to get 5 years from the 10 by phoning around a bit...Anyway glad it's not 'the law' (naughty Carole Nash....they should know better), admiral confirmed this to me yesterday also (my car policy is with them). If I get any success, ill post again which may help others in the same situ.
Many thanks for your comments, much appreciated |
