Winter riding & fogging up visor/specs

Getting a frozen face the past couple of weeks, so decided to try and sort myself out for the winter. Got a fleece neck tube for a few quid, which is much better than the one I was using over the summer, and some winter gloves and a Foggy mask.

Winter gloves are getting sent back, used their size chart and they're too tight, plus can't get a decent feel for the controls. Put my regular gloves on today and it was night and day. Gonna try some silk inner gloves that are supposedly for skiing, read somewhere they should help without losing loads of feel.

Main issue is the Foggy tho. Came in the post at work yesterday, fitted and went home. But still getting a bit misted up unless moving at high speed and air rushing in. Adjusted and came into work today, but still getting the same result. When I looked in the mirror I think I may have found part of the problem - my nose is squint. Must have done it when I was a kid and thought it wasn't serious cos I've never been to hospital or nowt, but it's definitely off. I can get the mask up above that to create a proper seal (I think) but then can't get my specs to sit properly.

Cold mornings is starting to get annoying, especially wet ones like today. Don't want to open the visor to keep face from getting frozen, but closed visor and dirty roads mean I end up with mucky water all over my visor if I keep it closed, and I can't see cos the visor and my specs are getting fogged up!

Anyone got any ideas on this? Barring laser eye surgery which I can't afford, I think I'm fucked.

Contacts lenses and pinlock?

+2 for pinlock too. I don't think I could ever ride with my lid closed without one.

Can't do contacts, tried years ago and they kept popping out. Just ordered a new visor as this one's scratched, doesn't have the pinlock bits on it tho, didn't think there would be much point with the specs. Might see about that tho, the replacement only cost £20.

Don't be tempted by third party spray or wipes they're all useless IMO, just try contacts and see if they work for you, boots do a three week trial period and teach you all about them beforehand.

Once you've solved above consider pinlock, max vision + contacts is a dream come true in comparison to glasses.

I've got my checkup at the opticians next Saturday actually, maybe I will ask about it, it was years ago I did it before.

As for the gloves, my summer gloves I've had for years, so they're a little stretched anyways, a liner shouldn't be too bad I wouldn't think.

I use the Air Optix Night and Day lenses, can keep them in for about 5 days at a time without even removing them for sleep.

Acuvue Moist were also good.

You need pinlock for the visor. For the glasses it helps if you have glasses with plastic lightweight lens not glass. Glass lens fogs easier.

Next step is buy glasses with the latest Essilor Optifog special anti-fog lenses:

I am not convinced by these lenses,because you buy expensive lenses and also need to apply special spray product on top.

From my experience Foggy mask helps for glasses, but you need helmet with open down so that when you breath the air gets in and out down freely. Some helmets have too better wind stopper below the chin that returns back the air, just remove it.

+1 for the Pinlock. £20 for a bit of flimsy plastic seemed a bit steep, but I dont know how I'd cope without it now. They really do work well.
