Smoke effects are pretty decent, the running animations are a bit fake looking and staccato though.

The difference here, is that in the London photo, there are no young men in the country because they are all abroad fighting for their freedom, not fleeing to whatever region hands out the most benefits, leaving their women and children to dodge the bullets and bombs.

While I agree there are a lot of economic migrants who ought to be elsewhere, I think it's pretty obvious the average upstanding male of any country would not just bugger off to a place offering financial stability, while leaving his family in a warzone. You just made a very Daily Mail comment there.

The best case even from the fugee advocates is that 65% of the 'refugees' swarming into Europe are adult males (14% wombyn, 20% chirruns)[1]. It's previously been admitted to be as high as 75%[2]. Anecdotal eyeball reports on those penetrating further into Europe put it at up to 90% adult males, presumably due to some sort of benefits seeking Darwinism[3].

This is in contrast to the actual fugee camps on the Syrian border where the male/female ratio is 50/50[4].

Perhaps we're getting abnormally craven ones.

The fact there are so many single blokes amongst the genuine Syrian refugees is apparently because the blokes get sent away to try and find somewhere else to live and then summon the rest of the family when/if they do/don't. It is a pretty perilous journey after all.

Think its more to avoid having to pick a side and fighting.

Can't be more perilous than being in Syria itself surely? Then what do they do when they've found somewhere? Go back and pay the smugglers again to go across? Laughing Rolling Eyes

Not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing or neither, so I'll just add that I totally agree it seems there is a majority of males coming over, and definitely a fair few will go for the refugee thing, and they're lying. I was just saying that as far as MPD's comment goes, it was silly to suggest any of those people had actually left their wife and kids in any warzone.

I suppose some of the blokes might have left their family at refugee camps and then head into Europe on their own. That's not good either.

So for all these middle class syrians with funds who are leaving the country... Why would risk the dangerous sea passage to illegally enter europe? Why wouldn't you just get on a flight in turkey to UK/germany/etc and claim asylum on arrival?

That way you are legitimately claiming asylum at the point of entry. You do come from a war zone. I actually wouldn't have a problem with accepting people that did that as asylum seekers tbh. I have a problem with traipsing across several perfectly safe countries to pick and choose the ones with the most bennies.

If nothing else, flights to turkey are like 200 quid, way cheaper than a trafficking scumbag.

Good question............no permits maybe? Not allowed to leave Syria legally...House just been bombed and now homeless, (11 million displaced persons)? Do they still have civilian flights out of Syria? I dunno TBH. I suppose those that can afford to, have left for better climes, it'd be interesting to find out how many. Don't forget Syria was badly failing in the years aproaching 2011...massive youth unemployment, high taxes etc...which is part of the reason for the original demonstrations.

EDIT; Ah...it turns out Turkey banned Civilain flights from Syria flying in Turkey air space in 2012 Thumbs Up Also, I think a lot of the military airfields outside of Damascus and the pro regime areas were seized by Rebels early in the war, the remaining commercial air-fields are now used for military flights. Besides, who's going to be mad enough to fly over syria in a commercial aircraft?
The air Force has a special place within the regime, mainly because Bashars Dad and fellow butcher Hafez was from the airforce. The most feared Regime Intelligence Service in Syria is the Air Force Intelligence.

Which makes sense, but getting to turkey overland doesn't seem to be the issue. If anything the boats to the EU are using turkey as the jump-off point.

I read an article that interviewed a syrian middle-class couple. Their lad had was just about to graduate uni, so to avoid being drafted in the assads army they wanted to send him to europe: Understandable I guess given the situation. So they were saying how he will be making his way to turkey then have to pay thousands of euros to the traffickers etc etc.... So if he's in turkey, why not just catch a flight to germoney?

It would be cheaper and safer to just fly. You could get a flight to Sweden and those swedes (YES!!!) would basically be getting on their knees to give you a BJ as soon as you step off the plane......

I just looked up Anakara to Stockholm: £62-120 this week depending on day.
