You'll get points, probably a fine, and have a real bad week!

It's something like 3 points for each missing (or incorrectly sized) L plate. Not sure on the fine, but would guess about £30-£60 per plate...

As for pillion - doesn't bear thinking about.

Hi

3 points for each missing L plate. Not sure what they would do you for in reality for carrying a pillion, but probably something like exceeding the conditions of your licence, but they could get rather inventive with the offences to charge you with.

Worst case scenario a ban from accumulated points. However crash and injure / kill someone while carrying a pillion without a full licence or L plates and things could get very nasty.

All the best

Keith

Six points and a £120 fine if you are missing both L-plates and the copper is in a bad mood (which he will be if he finds you carrying a pillion as well).

As for carrying a pillion, I am not sure what penalty driving outside the terms of your licence carries, could be up to six? In which case you could be banned for totting-up in one big smelly splatter of jobby hitting the whirly bits.

If you are REALLY determined to try carrying a pillion, do it on a private road otherwise you are just gonna have to do your test (or risk the consequences).

In Plymouth you get fined £20 per inch off your L-Plate. Plus upto 3 points.

Hope this helps..

Its not only the 3 points and fine for each plate, the points on your licence stay's on there for 5 years.
Completly fecking up your chances of getting cheap insurance.

Are you not also riding without insurance due to the fact of riding beyond your licence? Say you hit someone with no Ls on, what would the insurers say?

With pillion you could also get done for driving without insurance, as some policies for learners specifically do not include carrying pillions.

u can get banned,
as was dragged off my bike by 4 very angry police officers on my rs125 (long story).
as soon as they saw my rear L plate had snapped
3 points and a £60 fine
of course had it snapped off 500 meters down the road and being at a petrol station.
im fighting the case, 8 months later, test passed still waiting for that court date

From what TC has said in the past they could only weasal out of that if they could show that the illegal action had caused the accident, and even then only by the percentage it contributed by.

Difficult to see how a lack of an L plate could cause an accident.

All the best

6 points and a fine

a couple of lads at the scene of an accident were talking to the police about l plates e.t.c

the policeman did let the lad off who crashed for having only a rear l plate on at the time

this is i believe because no other vehcile was involved

Maybe if you had crashed into somebody or their property, into another vehicle then you would have been booked. If you had come off in the middle of the road without hitting anything and you had a lot of damage to your bike and so the copper may have been in a generous mood and thought he won't be on the road for quite a while anyway I'll let it go for now..... ?

What's the point, you tart. Don't invite trouble into your life, play the game, pass your test and Bob's your uncle. If your riding around with your mates and they are doing it, let them come up to your level instead of you going down to theirs.

I hit a car, they took my provisional at the time for my details and never even mentioned it, then let me ride off with the front end of the bike mangled. Shocked Maybe its just different cops discretion?

As a learner he will only be allowed 6 points so a ban would be enforcable.
