Went on holiday last month and forgot my headphones, I realised in the airport so thought I'd get some in duty free. I'd being eyeing up Noise cancelling headphones for ages and was thinking of Spunking £250~ on the Bose top of the line ones but wasn't convinced I should spend them much. In the end I went pikey and bought these In the airport they were £40 so shop around.

Anyway I thought I'd give them ago on the bike, they are a revelation. They are absolutely fantastic, I'm listening to Music/Podcasts/Audiobooks etc. at half the volume I was before and it is much clearer. The noise cancelling almost feels like it was made for wind/engine noise. Battery seem excellent I've had them well over a month and I would say used them for 4 hours a day Midweek and still on the original, it takes 1 AAA .

I think the helmet helps them work, It's weird sit on the bike with them in and the engine running and you won't really notice any difference however, put your lid on and the noise is much reduced compared to just having your lid on.

My only complaints are the phone mic/remote only has 1 button not 3, and the NC unit is right in the middle of the cable, this is a pain in the arse for me because I'm tall it means when my phone is in my pocket I can't clip it to my belt or my collar. You'll probably be ok if you ain't 6'+.

If you have headphones in while you ride these are well worth a look.

It's a shame because those sort of earphones don't stay in for me Sad

I'd never spend any more than ten ponds on ear phones as I find they break one way or another with daily usage. Either one works and the other doesn't or the wires break inside eventually because of the scrunching.

The longest I have got out of a pair is a couple of months and those are oem ones what come with new phones.

The best thing to do is buy two pairs and keep one under the seat for when the inevitable happens.

Buy better headphones and they won't break as often, I can't remember ever breaking a decent set.

+1 for shite longevity out of headphones. I get them from Argos, get extended warranty or whatever for a few quid and just get them replaced for free when they break. Must have had about 4 pairs replaced for free up to now.

I've never paid more than £10 for earphones, I've still never damaged a set yet.

You can't go wrong with SoundMAGIC E10S headphones. Cheap as fuck, especially if you buy them from AliExpress (Chinese eBay).

I've used lots of headphones in my time, including some top of the line ones, and you can't beat the E10Ss for the price.

Just trust me Smile

I've found Sennheiser to give the best sound quality at a very good price.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-II-Precision-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B001EZYMF4/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1445543919&sr=1-2&keywords=sennheiser+headphones
Always thought about some noise cancelling jobbies though, not fussed about using them with the phone as it's good to escape from it on the bike.

Interesting.. but as I said to my brother (he bought $300 boss noise cancelling headphones just before a long flight), why didn't you get the blue tooth ones? Laughing Looks like it'd be small enough with some modification to fit in chin guard, could be combined with bluetooth. Is the mic in the NC unit (allowing them to be swapped) or in each earphone?

** I recommend either buying or modifying a bluetooth... it is million times better than cabled. https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=306322

I never got on with headphones, I even had a set moulded to my ear to block out external noises (they didn't work, the wind noise was still horrendous) - the best solution for me was to use foam ear plugs and have decent helmet speakers (Torx are good) - my current set-up is a Sena SMH10-11 connected by bluetooth to my phone for music/calls, the speakers supplied with the Sena are more than good enough to hear music and hold conversations whilst travelling at NSL.

i use some of the twist in ones for mountain biking as they are the only ones that stay in, not too bothered about quality when out on a ride either, think they are Sennheiser and were about £30.

For on the motorbike, under a helmet, the only comfy ones i have found or the standard iphone ones, kept in place by wearing a biking balaclava, which i do now anyway to keep my helmet free of hairs and cleaner.

I hardly use earphones on the bike, only use them when I'm going somewhere new and need directions there, so plug in to Google Maps.

Currently using iPhone ones, but they are a bit of a bugger to keep in.
