Anything made by Oxford bar a few items is shit. Throw it in the bin and fit one of these and use it in conjunction with a big fuck off almax chain. |

Sometimes the batteries have sat in the pack on the shelf for quite a while before they get put to use, and can go flat, which can cause intermittent faults like this. So could be it just needs new batteries. But as has been noted, it is an Oxford Product after all...bit hit and miss as to whether you get one that's any good in the first place. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Thanks for all the replies. I will try it out tomorrow and see how it goes as it's been ok this evening...... If problems again, will change batteries, and if still no good will return it. Bloody annoying but would rather have an alarm as nothing to chain it to at work in the bike park ____________________ Cautious newbie...... Is the front disc on your bike large enough in diameter for you to be able to fit the lock on the bottom of the disc with its body resting on the rim of your wheel so the lock isn't hanging from the disc?
Sounds weird but there may be a problem with the locking mechanism itself and the pressure of the lock being 'pulled' by hanging as it were, may be setting the alarm off.
I'm not entirely sure if the actual alarm triggering unit is indeed linked to this mechanism so it's a bit of a long shot but it might work.
I'd also just make sure the shackle part of the lock is fully pushed into the case of the lock to eliminate any pressure on the internal mechanism.
This all may be complete bollocks but you've nothing to lose. |

Pikeys can see sound?

It's an Oxfraud, and nobody pays attention to alarms anyway, at least not to your benefit.
| Amazon review wrote: | I've bought three of these over the past two and a half years, one got lost in an accident, and am still using the other two.
The first two came with two modules, one less, and one more sensitive, the idea being in the city, you'd want a less sensitive module as it could be knocked about and lead to false alarms.
The last, and I suspect this model, only came with one module, this I'm guessing is the more sensitive.
They are all alright at the beginning, but very quickly the false alarms start.
I've had the rep send me three modules to replace the ones that came with the locks, but they are all far too sensitive.
These alarms have been going off in locked garages with little or no air movement, I've looked for a common denominator, but there appears to be none, I've accidentally knocked the bike and the alarm has not gone off, yet half an hour after locking the garage the bike is in, the alarm sounds.
As I've had three of these, I speak with authority as all have displayed the same symptoms after a while.
With regard to rain setting them off, it's possible, but the one that's on the garaged bike has never been subjected to rain, and regularly goes off for no apparent reason, annoying the neighbours, and rendering it useless.
Why do I still use them? For the insurance discount, which incidentally, I'm not sure is that great. |
Sorry, at that price it should come with selectable sensitivity, but... Oxfraud. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
