Hi lads, got an S5 had it for about a year and a bit now.

Over the last day I keep getting this error message:

https://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o520/bikerrtomm/Screenshot_2015-11-10-20-14-54_zpswwi87r5z.png

Happens when I go to use anything really, app store, snapchat etc. I press ok it goes away and comes back again for a bit then stops for a bit.

Today when I got to work my battery was on 41% when it usually would be on 90%, the phone is also getting hot

So something is clearly hammering it's CPU or RAM or whatever, haven't ever messed with the phone its standard 16gb with a 60gb memory card in (half full up)

And it keeps badgering me to update which I've been putting off now for forever.

I will get round to it.. maybe it will solve all my problems? Very Happy

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers. Thumbs Up

Update it.

The apps etc you have might need the update to operate.

I always make sure background stuff on mines are closed, Same with data roaming. If i aint using it. Switch it off.

Updated mines just the other day.

Runs great

I really need too.. I have next to no memory either which isn't helping - don't have enough for the update which is why I keep not getting round to it!

Also very little of my photo's are backed up because my laptop can't handle it.. and I'm getting a new one very soon so keep putting it off before I can get backed up! Laughing

Check out My Phone Explorer
https://www.fjsoft.at/en/
and
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fjsoft.myphoneexplorer.client

Needs alot less grunt than the over bloated Samsung Kies.

This happens to me too, removing the battery for 20 seconds and restarting my device allows the screen to become the highest battery drain again.

Also for future reference if you ever get the camera failed when trying to use the camera, removing the battery also fixes this.....

I don't know how, or why but it does!

Check the battery hasn't started to get puffy ie on its last legs and likely to catch fire soon!!! It would cause heat build up and lower power to the phone so apps which need a bit extra may push it over the limit and cause issues. Failing that give it a factory reset once you've backed everything up properly. If your phone is detecting excessive heat build up it will throttle back your Cpu to prevent more heat being generated and possibly give you a laggy experience.

Thanks for suggestions lads.

Trying to copy 5000 pictures off fucks my laptop to no end, work computer can't handle it, can only upload 250 at a time to dropbox.. lesson learnt to keep on top of it.

I've definately found the culprit though by looking in battery settings

If I delete google play store, how do I get it back again when thats what I use to download apps? Laughing

Will try backing up 1 last time then update it to jizz pop lollipop tonight.

Cheers Thumbs Up

If you have a 64gb memory card.... move all the photos and videos to it.

Use the Dick Usage app to find out what crap you have on your phone memory and remove anything you havent used for atleast a month.

I've only just got my first android phone, (OnePlus 2) on it if I click the battery it shows me what has drained the battery. I had a similar issue and GMail was the culprit. Does the S5 not have the battery info? Can you DL an app for it?

In addition to the battery removal technique, also check that the GPS is on power saving. If it switches over to high accuracy and you use an app which accesses the GPS, it can drain the battery at a shocking rate.

S5, S4, and S3 all have it IIRC.
