Best a2 license bike for under £2000

Hi, I have been riding a 125cc bike for almost 2 years now in the UK and I think its time to get something bigger.
I am looking for a bike that can fit the a2 license category, I have a budget of £2000 to spend. I would prefer the bike to have fuel injection if possible.
Dose anyone have any recommendations for what bike I could get and what to avoid, thanks.

Only relatively modern FI bikes have appropriate 35kW kits available, as opposed to just slinging washers in the carb inlets of older bikes.

However, you can get an ER6N or ER6F in budget and there are kits available. You could do worse as a general purpose bike.

Do you have any particular use in mind?

I will be using it to commute to college and for going on rides on the weekend when its not raining.

FZS 600 1998 - 2003 you will find a good one well within budget.

Not FI but why does that matter?

Just out of interest for any A2'ers out there.

Say you buy the FZS600 or whatever suggested above. What do you do after the period of 2/4years is up and you can pass another test to go from your artificial 47bhp to the natural 95bhp of the bike?

Do you bother to de-restrict the same bike you have been riding for years, or just sell it and move on? The reason I ask is that I cant help but feel the magic and fun of an FZS600 etc would be lost after a few years of riding it around all limp wristed, especially if after that time the chassis is baggy and bike feels very second hand and saggy?

I could clearly be talking complete bollocks, as I have never ridden a restricted machine or lived with a bike that can be liberated to give it's natural performance back after a few years.

I do expect the bike would have bored the arse off me though by that time, so I'd want it gone instead of pulling it apart to remove the washers and pretending id got a new bike out of the process.

I couldn't back in the 33bhp days and cant see now, how bigger restricted bikes could ever be a good ride or hold my interest.

Does OP not want a natural 47bhp bike? And is this not the favoured route for newbie A2'ers to take?

I sold my ER6. Restriction was a piece of piss to remove, just three bolts. However, I got £3k for it and bought the ZZR for a few hundred.
Honestly though, I couldn't imagine it being a lot of fun to ride even with the restrictor.

As far as A2 bikes go, I've just had a go on a Suzuki Gladius and it was genuinely a really good bike. Comfortable, light and had enough to play with at low revs. I'm pretty sure it's the same engine as the SV650 in a lighter frame. May be able to pick one up as low as £2k privately, but the best I saw on auto trader was £2.5k.

This is where I'm confused about restrictions. The ER-6F (at least my '06 vintage), has a throttle stop restriction. It's just a torx head screw. Only one position on the throttle body. So that being said, the 47BHP 'restriction' will be the same as the 33Bhp. It's compliant, but if you are expecting more, you might be surprised.

In fact it was in the same place on the ZX12R, had some fun restricting my mates and confusing him.
