Pretty much the title. I was on my way back from the shops and I had strapped my shopping to my fuel tank and I think i snagged something with my mesh bungee holder thing. Long story short the bike jsut starts stuttering a few minutes out and then the engine dies. It seems like it will run but when I give it any throttle for more than a few seconds the engine just stutters and dies. I've read up and I think its got to be either my air intake (is that a thing???) or my fuel line. Is there anything I could have snagged with my bungees around the side of the tank? Need my bike to commute so I'm going to get the old tool box out tomorrow and try to fix it. Any ideas/suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance BCF.

Fuel line crushed or kinked, or fuel tap turned nearly but not quite off?

Air leak? Check the big rubber hose between the airbox and the carb.

Ht lead loose or damaged?

Filler vent blocked? Try running with the fuel cap off.

If you strapped your shopping over the fuel tank vent hole then it could cause a problem. It needs to be able to suck in air.

Try it again without any thing covering the fuel filler.

If it has a fuel tap check that it is in the right position.
Again as others have said check you are blocking the fuel vent or catching the fuel line.
To prevent this in the future look at a tank bag or top box.
Even a cargo net on the rear seat would be better than bungeeing onto the fuel tank.
Top boxes come in a variety of sizes and should be easy to fix on the back of the bike as IIRC the YBR all read has a rear carrying frame.

It's actually fuel injected not carbed. Anything specific I should be looking for?

Right I've cleaned out the air filter and that's definitely not the problem. The fuel line from the tank doesn't appear to be snagged or anything, i checked the fuel going into the FI and its got fuel in it. However when I checked the tank even though it says I have like a 1/4 tank of fuel it feels pretty empty. Going to try getting some fuel in it and see if its just the fuel gage that's not showing the right level.

Not sure if this will help but the fuel injector light is flicking when its trying to turn over and the fuel pump is definitely running because you can hear it pumping.

Yeah to be fair the battery is now sat on charge in my kitchen but the problem was happening way before I drained the battery trying to get it to turn over. My neutral light is a bit temperamental. Perhaps the video wasn't particularly helpful. My bad. It doesn't normally turn over first time.

Does the yellow light flash an error code after attempting to start it? (Long and short flashes)

Nah the yellow light is the fuel injection primer. I appreciate that it looks like it's flashing but its because I'm mashing the starter.

If it helps... From here
Fault codes are stored on the ECU , these will be shown via the engine fault light on the dash board
as a series of flashes of the light .

The engine management light will come on for 3 secs every time you start the bike , if the light does not come on replace the bulb at rear of clocks .

Codes are all 2 digit numbers , the first number will be read by long flashes of the light , the second
number of the code with be in short flashes of the light .

Fault code 12 - Crankshaft position sensor

Fault code 13 - Intake air pressure sensor

Fault code 14 - Intake air pressure sensor

Fault code 15 - Throttle position sensor

Fault code 16 - TPS

Fault code 19 - No signal from ignition to ecu

Fault code 22 - Intake air temp sensor

Fault code 28 - Engine temp sensor

Fault code 30 - Tip over sensor

Fault code 33 - Igniton coil

Fault code 39 - Fuel injector

Fault code 41 - Tip over sensor

Fault code 44 - Read write error ECU

Fault code 46 - Power supply error to FI system

Fault code 50 - Ecu malfunction

Right I've charged the battery all night and tried it again this morning. It is firing and turning over but its still spluttering a bit. Really have to give it a lot of gas to turn over. Went out for a ride though and it was OK so I dunno, maybe a bit of gunk in the bottom of my tank. Next thing I want to do is change my fuel filter. Anyway I can get to work again so thanks for the suggestions! =)

Perhaps it was sputtering due to a slightly blocked injector? If the tank was almost empty, that's where all the crap ends up so could have been sucked in. This may not be beneficial but maybe think of putting an inline filter between tank and fuel pump to prevent that particular issue re/occurring.

Meh I might. I'm hoping to get my tests done soon (passed my theory last week but I'm fucking moving house this week - grr) so I'll probs end up selling the bike soon enough anyway.
